Chapter 52
Suddenly, Ashley spoke up. “Sharon, stop talking nonsense. What do you know about fakes, you country bumpkin? You’ve probably never even seen a good gemstone, so don’t make a fool of yourself here.”
Janelle sneered. “Exactly. A poor girl dares
to say
our family’s jewelry is fake? You’ve got some nerve.”
Wendy stepped forward, shielding Sharon behind her. “What’s wrong? In this business, who hasn’t been questioned before? You’re overreacting. Are you guilty? Shari is an excellent young woman, and she doesn’t lie.”
“Mrs. Baxter, Sharon may look well–mannered, but she’s not a good person. What does a country bumpkin like her know about gemstones?” Ashley said.
She was irritated seeing Wendy so protective of Sharon.
She thought, ‘If not for Sharon, I would have been the perfect match for Nick. But this country bumpkin just showed up out of nowhere and stole Nick from me. It’s infuriating.
Wendy was biased toward Sharon, “Shari is a good girl, unlike some people who spread false accusations. Is that how the Dolan family teaches their
children?”
Ashley’s face burned with embarrassment. She wanted to argue but didn’t know what to say. She never expected Wendy, usually so gentle, to be so blunt and harsh in defending Sharon.
“I can’t just let that slide. My daughter is a lady of proper upbringing. How could some country bumpkin even compare to her?” Janelle glared at Sharon and added, “You should head home and I find your brothers. Don’t embarrass yourself out here.”
“I heard someone wanted to see me? What’s the problem?” Wallace strode into the room, his face twisted with anger.
He gave Janelle a fierce look. “My sister is thoughtful, obedient, sweet, and more adorable than anyone else in the world. Got a problem with that? You can speak up, but I’m not accepting any complaints.”
“Wallace, we only said those words because your sister talked nonsense. I’m just teaching her a lesson so she won’t cause trouble for you later,” Janelle
shot back.
“My sister never talks nonsense. If you insist she did, then you’re slandering her.” Without even asking for details, Wallace immediately sided with
Sharon.
Janelle was so angry that her face twisted, her crow’s feet becoming more pronounced. She thought Wallace was being completely unreasonable.
Ashley’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Nick, you’ve come just in time. Help us out here–Sharon claimed that this piece by Master Skyler is a fake, and my mom couldn’t take it and said something, but her brother lost his cool. The Vance family is being unreasonable.”
All eyes turned to Nicholas.
Wendy narrowed her eyes, a clear warning that if Nicholas dared to say anything foolish, she’d make sure he’d regret it.
Nicholas walked over and stood beside Sharon. “I think my fiancée makes a good point.”
Sharon glanced sideways at him, catching only a glimpse of his smooth jawline. His cool voice was actually quite pleasant.
“Nick, how can you be so biased? She was clearly wrong, yet you still defended her. Aren’t you afraid of being embarrassed?” Ashley was furious. She cursed inwardly, ‘Both Nick and his mother stood up for this country bumpkin. What’s so special about her?‘
“I’m wrong?” Sharon’s gaze turned icy. She stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the set of jewelry. “I remember there’s a rule here–any counterfeit goods must be destroyed on the spot, right?”
“Yeah, so what? Ours are all real,” Ashley spát.
Sharon picked up the set of jewelry with one hand and slammed it onto the ground. It shattered into pieces.

Everyone took several steps back. Someone couldn’t help but wonder, ‘What just happened? Her actions were so bold and strangely impressive. That set of jewelry was worth billions, but she just smashed it without a second thought. Most people wouldn’t dare to do that!
Ashley immediately screamed, “Are you crazy? This is Master Skyler’s work!”
Sharon turned around calmly. “I’m not crazy. I just smashed a fake.”
“You’re lying This is not a fake!” Ashley shouted. She hadn’t expected Sharon to dare to do something like that.
The crowd was utterly stunned.
Nicholas’s eyes widened briefly in surprise. He couldn’t help but think, ‘She smashed the jewelry with such flair and confidence. But the way she did it reminded me so much of that girl.
‘No, I’m probably overthinking it. There’s no way the leader of some villainous organization could be anything like my adorable fiancée!
“If my sister says it’s a fake, then it’s a fake. Someone, bring me a check. My sister can smash as much as she wants–money’s not an issue for us,” Wallace declared, his tone righteous.
Ashley was so furious that she felt like she was about to explode. Yet, despite her anger, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy towards Sharon for having a protective brother. She glanced at her own brother and sighed in disappointment.
“No need for a check. This is fake.” Sharon gently pressed Wallace’s hand down, her expression calm and composed. She didn’t seem to be lying.
Ashley scoffed. “You think you can just call it fake and make it so? Who do you think you are? This is Master Skyler’s work, the only one of its kind! It’s worth a fortune.”
“Skyler’s never made jewelry like this. His pieces are usually decorative, not wearable. So, this one’s a fake,” Sharon said firmly.
At that moment, Janelle answered a phone call. Then she said smugly, “Sharon, you’re finished. Master Skyler is on his way. He’ll confront you in person.” She was determined to knock Sharon down a peg.
Sharon remained calm and unfazed. Not long after, a middle–aged man in a suit walked over, carrying himself with the air of a master. “I heard someone smashed my exhibit and claimed it’s a fake. Who’s the little brat who doesn’t know their place? I’m going to teach them a lesson today,” he snapped.
“Master Skyler, so nice to see you. It’s that country girl who smashed your exhibit.” Ashley’s face lit up with excitement–finally, she would see Sharon humiliated.
The middle–aged man turned to Sharon. “Let me see which country girl–Wait, it’s you?” His arrogant expression vanished. He now looked embarrassed and even a bit scared.
Sharon’s gaze turned icy as she looked at him. She let out a cold snort. “I knew it was you! How dare you impersonate me and swindle people?”
The middle–aged man hastily apologized. “I’m sorry. I was blinded by greed. Please, spare me just this once.”
He never imagined he’d run into Sharon here. She’d disappeared for five years, and given all the enemies she’d made, he had assumed she was dead.
Over the past five years, he’d raked in money by posing as Skyler. Gradually, he started to believe no one would ever expose his true identity.
The onlookers were completely stunned by the unexpected twist as they watched the man, whom they had thought was Master Skyler, apologize and beg for mercy.
Ashley was dumbfounded. “Master Skyler, why are you apologizing?”
The middle–aged man kept apologizing, too scared to respond.
Sharon casually kicked at shards of the broken jewelry on the ground, her tone haughty. “The reason is simple. I am Skyler, and he’s the one who’s been pretending.”
