Chapter 25 Was Sharon Dead?
Even with all his proper upbringing, Wayne couldn’t hold back anymore. “What the hell is wrong with those idiots? Who told them to do that? Sharon is the Vance family’s heiress, no matter what.”
A strange look flashed across Roxanne’s face. “I didn’t know anything about it.” She thought, ‘How did it end up like this, especially with Nicholas here too?‘
Nicholas’s gaze was ice cold. “If anything happens to her, the entire Vance family goes. down with her.” He didn’t waste another second and walked out.
Roxanne, fuming, yelled, “That brat’s got a big mouth. Even his grandfather wouldn’t dare talk to me like that.”
Wayne sighed, “That’s enough, Grandma. Sharon is the one Edward personally chose to be his granddaughter–in–law–the future Mrs. Baxter.
“If anything happens to her while she’s at our place, the Baxter family will never let it slide. I’ve finally started patching things up with the other families. Please, don’t make things worse.”
Roxanne immediately softened. “But I didn’t give the order. This can’t be blamed on me.‘
“I’m going over there to check.” Wayne didn’t waste a moment and rushed out of the hospital. He’d already sent people to intervene. All he could hope now was that Sharon was still okay.
He wondered, ‘Who did our family piss off this time? Who the hell puts up a bounty for a thousand Hunter Coins?‘
Wayne then narrowed his eyes, thinking, ‘Wait. Could it be Sharon? Who else would be looking for the Crawford family? No ordinary person would go to that kind of trouble.’
Outside the parlor at Graceville Manor, quite a few people were waiting.
Sam’s arm was in a cast. He was drinking, wondering what kind of scene was unfolding inside.
One of his subordinates asked, “Captain, didn’t the higher–ups say not to cause any deaths?”
But Sam had been waiting here the whole time, doing nothing. Everyone outside figured that Sharon and Greg inside were already as good as dead.
Sam spat hard on the ground. “Ye Successfully unlocked! what they said, didn’t I? But that monster’s tough to control. If that pretty lady happened to have bad luck and kicked the bucket, well, that’s life. You get me?”

There was a ruthless glint in his eyes. No one had ever dared to challenge him before.
He thought, ‘Around here, I run the damn show. No one dares cross me. And that girl humiliated me in front of everyone. If I don’t make an example out of her, these people. are gonna forget who’s boss.
‘Gotta say though, this move really works.”
But before long, the butler came running over in a panic. “Stop. Stop everything and get her out
now.”
Sam said, “Hey, what brings you here? I just got my hands on some good liquor. Let’s. sit down and have a drink later.”
The butler snapped, “Cut the crap. Get in there. Get her out. Now.”
Sam couldn’t care less. “Relax, I know what I’m doing. I’ve handled plenty of troublemakers before. This is nothing.”
“I said let her out. Did you hear me?” The butler suddenly slapped Sam across the face. “Listen up. That girl in there is Ms. Sharon Vance, heiress of the Vance family. If anything happens to her, your whole damn family’s going down with her.”
“Ms. Sharon Vance? You mean that Sharon Vance from the branch that got kicked out? A shiver ran straight through Sam’s body. The title “Ms. Sharon Vance” had only started circulating this past year. Before, there had only been one heiress in the Vance family.
He thought, ‘But now Sharon’s shown up. Sure, she came from some poor backwater village, but she’s got eight brothers–no, eight damn reapers. I’m screwed. Totally screwed.‘
Sam scrambled toward the parlor, practically crawling. His hands were shaking as he reached for the door. He pondered, ‘Please, please let her be okay!
He swallowed hard. “Get the anesthetist ready.”
The door slowly opened. Blood was already soaking into the carpet–no doubt the scene inside was brutal.
The parlor was soundproof. No one outside could hear what went on inside. That was the whole point–to keep what was locked in there hidden.
The butler saw the scene and shut his eyes. “Wait. Don’t bother looking.” He thought,‘ She’s probably already gone. This is gonna be a mess.”
Sam dropped to his knees with a loud thud. “Please, you’ve got to help me. If I’d known. she was Ms. Vance, I wouldn’t have dared bring her into the parlor.”
The butler said, “What? So you’re saying the higher–ups were wrong?”
“But you’re the one who told me to put her in the parlor,” Sam blurted out, and a bad

feeling crept up his spine.
The butler let out a cold snort. “Did I? Funny, I don’t remember saying that.”
At that moment, Sam finally understood. He was being thrown under the bus as a scapegoat. A chill ran through his entire body, He’d done plenty of dirty work over the years, but he couldn’t accept this.
Gritting his teeth, Sam suddenly kicked the butler into the room and slammed the door
shut.
“What are you doing? Let me out,” the butler’s panicked voice shouted from inside, followed by wails and blood–curdling screams.
Sam’s face was stone cold. “This whole thing was the butler’s doing. No one says a word. Got it?”
“Yes, sir.” The others didn’t dare defy him.
But just as Sam snapped out of it, he saw several people standing outside the parlor. Their faces were covered, weapons in hand, their presence radiating danger.
He questioned, “Who the hell are you? This is Graceville Manor, the Vance family’s estate. You think you can barge in here and live to talk about it?”
“We’re here for the Vance family.” The man in front waved his hand. The people behind him rushed forward, and in less than a minute, everyone but Sam was down.
Sam dropped to his knees, his face ashen. These people were on a whole different level. Killing him would be easier than squashing a bug.
The leader spoke slowly, “We’ve got questions. If you give the wrong answer, you’ll end up just like them.” He thought, ‘A thousand Hunter Coins. This job’s ours.”
Sam stammered, “A–ask away. There’s nothing I don’t know around here.”
The leader said, “Good. Now, have you seen these people? Where are they being held in Graceville Manor? Take us there. Now.”
Sam saw the people in the photo and quickly nodded. “I know where they’re being held. They’re in the basement. Come with me.”
The leader asked, “Which basement? We’ve already searched just about every hidden. space on the property. We found nothing.”
That was exactly why they decided to force answers out of someone. Killing was messy, and they wouldn’t have gone that far unless absolutely necessary.
“It’s a basement no one expects. Hardly anyone even knows it exists except me.” Sam‘
s survival instinct kicked in fast. He led the group of bounty hunters toward the stables, where the captives were being held in a feed storage basement.
He walked ahead of them. “This is where they’re locked up.”

The leader said, “You open it.”
Sam nodded quickly and pushed the door open, only to see there were several people inside, including someone he never expected to see, Sharon. He hadn’t thought she was still alive.
“Y–you’re not a ghost, right?” Sam flinched in shock. He’d been right outside the parlor the entire time. The equipment hadn’t shown any movement. He had no idea how she could be here.
He thought, ‘But there was blood all over the parlor. What the hell is going on?”
Sharon’s beautiful eyes darkened. She let out a cold laugh. “I wasn’t even looking for you yet, and you came to me yourself?”
Her gaze swept over the group behind Sam. It took her barely a second to figure out who they were.
She said calmly, “You’re too late. I’ve already found them.”
The leader clicked his tongue. “You found them, sure–but you still gotta live to keep them. We didn’t come all this way for nothing.”
The air turned instantly tense.
“Ms. Vance, rest assured. Leave this to us.” A striking woman stepped in front of Sharon. From the shadows, more than a dozen people in black emerged, tall and short, but every one of them radiated pure killing intent.
The woman thought, ‘They wanna hurt Ms. Vance? Over our dead bodies.”
