Chapter 21 Her Brothers‘ Whereabouts
Brent asked, “Aunt Janelle, are you sure about that?”
“Of course I’m sure. Why the hell would I kidnap those hillbillies? Do I look like I’ve got nothing better to do?” Janelle finished, then noticed how everyone was looking at her.
She put her hands on her hips and snapped, “What, none of you believe me?”
Garrett chimed in weakly, “Mom, if you actually did it, you should threaten Sharon and make her apologize to me.”
Janelle clutched her chest in frustration. She wondered, ‘What kind of idiot did I raise?”
She let out a breath. “Yeah, I did go to the Atlantis Hotel this morning to settle things. with Sharon. I was gonna break her leg and send her to the hospital so she could apologize to Garrett.
“Then I’d have her leg patched up. If she won’t say sorry, then trading a leg for a leg sounds fair. Why the hell would I waste my time kidnapping a bunch of bumpkins from a poor village? That’s illegal.”
Garrett said, “Mom, breaking someone’s leg is also illegal.”
“You shut the hell up. Keep running your mouth and I’ll break the other leg too,” Janelle
snapped.
Garrett shrank his neck and thought, ‘I’m injured here. Why is everyone being so mean
to me?‘
After saying her piece, Janelle turned to look at them. “So what, her family got kidnapped right after I left?”
Brent said, “That’s right. And right now, you’re the biggest suspect. You brought people. to stir up trouble and walked away with nothing. Can you really say you’re okay with
that?”
On the way there, Brent had already gotten a rough idea of what happened in the morning. He figured that if Caesar, that spoiled rich kid, hadn’t stepped in, Sharon would probably be lying in a hospital bed right now.
After all, Madeline couldn’t fight, and her bodyguards were most likely low–ranking martial artists. No ordinary person could take them on.
Janelle said, “Of course I’m not okay with it. I just haven’t had the chance to cause trouble yet. I had to bring Garrett back first. And just because her family went missing, you guys are pointing fingers at me? Whore’e the proof?”
“There is proof. Those assassins S Brent replied.

Chapter 21 Her Brothers Whereabouts
Janelle felt like there was no way to clear her name. If she were in their shoes, she’d probably think it was her too. She wondered, ‘Who’s trying to set me up?”
Suddenly, something came to mind. “Oh right, Sharon, do you know who told me where you were staying?”
“Who?” Sharon asked.
Janelle said, “Someone from the Vance family. Now that I think about it, this whole. thing feels like a setup. Instead of accusing me, maybe you should go have a proper talk with your own family.
“I heard you pissed off Mrs. Vance so bad she ended up in the hospital. That old woman’s petty and vicious. She might be out for revenge.”
Sharon gave it some thought. It didn’t seem impossible. But she couldn’t just take Janelle’s word for it.
Brent felt the situation getting messy. “Sharon, I’ll investigate everything on the Dolan side for you. You have my word I won’t cover anything up. Aunt Janelle might have a bad temper and not be the sharpest.
“But just like she said, breaking your leg and dragging you to the hospital are more like her style. As for kidnapping, she’s still a suspect, so our family will help you look for the Crawfords.”
Sharon didn’t know the Dolan family well enough to decide if she should trust them.
Nicholas suddenly spoke, “Give me results within a day.”
“No problem, Nick,” Brent said.
When Sharon saw this, she realized she wasn’t going to get any answers. She turned around and started walking out. She was going to handle this her own way.
Nicholas quickly caught up. “Come back to the Baxter Estate with me first. Whoever kidnapped your family must have a reason. They’ll definitely contact you.”
Sharon said, “But I can’t wait.” Every extra minute put the Crawfords in more danger.
But before she could take more than a few steps, the butler stopped her and said to Nicholas, “Mr. Baxter, your grandfather wants to see you.”
Sharon was getting impatient. She didn’t want to waste any more time.
Nicholas could tell his fiancée was about to blow up, so his voice softened. “Trust me. With both the Baxter family and the Dolan family involved, even if the ones behind this are the Vance family, they’ll have no choice but to hand them over.”
Sharon pressed her lips together, a little reluctant.
The butler beside them was stunned. He had never seen the usually cold and distant Nicholas speak so gently to comfort a girl.

Only then did the old butler take a good look at Sharon. The Vance family had been in decline for a while, and this heiress had been brought back from some poor village. No matter how he looked at it, she didn’t seem like a match for Nicholas.
Even though Edward strongly supported her, the Baxter family was large and strict with tradition. But if Nicholas was truly into her, that was a different story.
Nicholas continued, “Aren’t you trying to find out where your brothers are? You should ask Brent’s grandfather.”
Sharon’s head snapped up, her beautiful eyes lighting up. She thought, If that’s the case, then let’s go..
After calming Sharon down, Nicholas looked at the butler again, his expression once more cool and composed. “Let’s go,” he said to Sharon.
The two of them headed to another villa. When they entered the main hall, Brent was already there–so was Garrett, though he didn’t look too happy.
Ernie Dolan, Brent and Garrett’s grandfather, waved his hand. “So this is the youngest heiress from the Vance family, huh? Come closer. Let me get a look. You really do take after your mother.”
Ernie had aged well. It was easy to imagine he’d been a heartthrob in his younger days.
Sharon obediently walked over and greeted him, “Sir, it’s an honor to meet you.” After all, she needed to ask him about her brothers‘ whereabouts. And playing the sweet and well–mannered girl always worked on the older generation.
Ernie chuckled, “Nice to meet you too. I didn’t know you were coming, so I didn’t have time to prepare a gift.”
Sharon shook her head. “I don’t need a gift. I just want to know where my brothers are. Are they in danger?”
Ernie paused and then sighed, “A while back, Nick asked me to look into it. Based on what I’ve heard, it seems your brothers went off to take care of something. They didn’t. bring anyone with them, and after that, all contact was lost.”
“You mean, they’ve gone missing?”
“That’s right. But it looks like they expected something might happen. Seems they left a backup plan and arranged for people to follow you. They were supposed to give you some information.”
Sharon shook her head. “I haven’t seen anyone they left behind.”
Ernie replied, “Well, that’s strange. Those eight brothers of yours left you almost everything they’d built up over the years–money, connections. With how much they cared about you, there’s no way they’d leave you alone in a dangerous place like Aerions.”

Sharon still couldn’t figure out where things had gone wrong. Just moments ago, she‘ d been upset with her brothers. But now she realized they hadn’t just left her behind. They had made plans for her.
Nicholas heard all this and asked, “So there’s no trace of them at all?”
Ernie gave him a long, meaningful look, then nodded. In truth, there was–but he couldn’t tell Sharon. That place wasn’t somewhere just anyone could go.
Nicholas had a good guess at what was going on, so he comforted Sharon, “If they were willing to go off on their own, they must’ve had their reasons. Your brothers have become really capable over the years.”
“Shari, I’ll keep sending people to search for your brothers. As for the Crawford family, I‘ ve already spoken to the staff at Atlantis Hotel. We know who took them. Aerions is locked down. Even if we have to tear the place apart, we’ll find them.”
Sharon let out a breath. That was a big relief to her.
The next second, Ernie turned to his rebellious grandson Garrett and ordered, “What are you standing there for? Apologize.”
