No sooner had I finished speaking than I saw someone rushing out from the emergency
stairwell.
Lucian’s face was flushed from running. His eyes were filled with disappointment, and he was gasping for breath as he asked, “Solene… did you mean what you just said?”
“I did.” I looked him straight in the eye and said each word slowly and clearly, “I don’t want to have connection to any one in your family. Take your drama back where you came from–and
stay the hell out of my life.”
“Well then, you remember what you said today!” Juana sprang to her feet, her voice sharp and arrogant. “And don’t you dare come bothering my son again! You’re also not allowed to cause
trouble for my daughter–in–law, or I won’t be so polite next time-”
“Mom! That’s enough!” Lucian cut her off, his voice full of
anger.
Just then, my friend Cathy pushed her way through the crowd.
She shouted, “Solene never chased after your son–it’s your son who keeps bothering her!”
“These past few days when she was out, your son acted like some creepy stalker, standing outside her door every single day.”
“He kept asking me where she was, but he never once told me they’d broken up! There’s a security camera at my door. If you don’t believe me, I can show you the footage!”
Thanks to Cathy’s words, the judgmental looks from the crowd started to waver with guilt.
Even Juana, who always had a silken tongue, was left speechless.
Lucian didn’t get angry about being exposed. Instead, he calmly admitted, “She never chased after me. I was the one who couldn’t let go.”
His eyes were full of helplessness and guilt as he looked at me,
Juana’s face turned red with fury. With a cold snort, she stormed off as if fleeing the scene.
Lucian still wanted to talk to me, but I cut him off before he could say anything.
“Everything I said just now was from the heart. I never want to see you again. Please stop

looking for me.
With that, I ignored his pleading, opened the door, and went inside.
After washing up, I was about to tackled some unfinished works and then received several notifications from shopping apps.
Curious, I clicked one of them open.
To my surprise, I saw that just a few minutes earlier, a member in my Amazon household had
purchased a bunch of baby–related items.
Among items were several pregnancy–friendly lingerie.
Only then did I remember that a long time ago, Lucian and I had linked our accounts through
the Amazon household.
Whatever either of us bought would show up on both accounts.
Seeing those disgusting orders, and remembering how Lucian had begged me to get back together, I couldn’t help but sneer.
I opened the app settings and forcibly unlinked our accounts.
Then I checked everything again to make sure there was nothing about Lucian left on my phone.
The weekend arrived in a blink. Cathy, worried I might overthink things if I stayed home, asked me to go shopping with her.
At the mall, she waved her hand generously and said, “Pick whatever coffee you want. It’s on me today!”
We always shared good things with each other, and buying coffee for one another was practically routine.
So I didn’t stand on ceremony. I followed her suggestion and ordered one.
While we were waiting for our drinks, a familiar figure caught my eye.
I looked closely and saw a woman not far away who looked exactly like Elise.

But this time, she was holding a strange man’s arm.
Before I could get a better look at her face, they walked into a hotel across the street.
“What are you staring at?” Cathy asked.
“Nothing.”
Whether it was her or not didn’t matter to me anymore, so I didn’t dwell on it.
