Leo’s POV
When I got home from the hospital, I sat down on the couch and noticed a faint, unpleasant smell.
The flowers in the vase had wilted.
“Viola, why didn’t you change the flowers?” I called out.
However, there was no answer.
That was when I realized–she hadn’t been home for a few days.
I took out my phone again and tried calling, but no one picked up. I mind–linked her, but there was no response either.

I sighed. We only temporarily severed our mate bond—it wasn’t like we were really over. Why did she actually move out?
I left her a message: [When are you coming back? The house needs cleaning.]

But as I sent it, I suddenly realized that all our past chats were mostly from her. My replies were short, just one or two words.
The more I looked, the worse it felt.
In the last year or two, I had stopped showing Viola the love I used to. I had even started getting annoyed at her for talking too
much and turned off the link between us.
I remembered when we first started dating. Viola was so lively, bright, and talented. She always ranked near the top in our
Werewolf Trials, and she was also great with business and management.
She shone in a crowd.
But every time we went on a date, we ran into Jane. She was quieter, gentler, and more thoughtful. She didn’t have the energy or
spark that Viola did. Jane knew how to keep a conversation going and always gave compliments.
But I didn’t like Jane that way.
Still, she was part of the family, so I looked out for her more than I probably should have.
On the other hand, Viola had always been so quick to lose her temper with me–and so harsh toward Jane.
This time, I agreed to go ahead with the Marking Ceremony to help Jane recover faster. As Viola’s mate, I should help her sister.
Maybe that hurt Viola’s feelings, and that was why she wasn’t talking to me now.
Never mind. Once this was over, I would apologize and make it up to her properly.
I sent the message and waited. Still, no reply.
Well, maybe in a few days, she would calm down and come back.
