Chapter 31
“Are you sure? Stay on the line with me.”
He signaled to the directors to adjourn the meeting and left the conference room, striding towards his personal elevator.
“Mr. Kensington,” A nosy director intercepted Sebastian’s assistant before he could leave. “Did Mr. Sterling finally found his love?” Alex wished he could disappear just as Sebastian did. He didn’t want to deal with the nosy directors that are bound to talk. But he could only nod helplessly and hope they let him be.
Was it already that obvious?
True to his words, Sebastian stayed on the phone talking to Adora. She gradually relaxed, the thunder outside fading to background noise as she focused all her attention on Sebastian.
Two hours had passed and they were still talking, Adora’s eyes fluttering open and close, battling between sleep and wakefulness until she was awakened by a series of knocks on the door.
The fear that had vanished rushed back tenfold and Adora suddenly exclaimed. “There’s someone at my door Seb, I think they just knocked.”
“Why don’t you go and take a look then?”
“What? No! Do you want me to get killed? Curiosity killed the cat. What if the hotel is haunted and I end up opening the door for a ghost?”
Adora whined but still got up to check. With her phone clutch tightly to her ears as if Sebastian could magically appear out of the phone and save her, she moved towards the door with cautious steps. She peeped through the peephole, but only a pink stuffed toy was there.
“Did you see a cute pink stuffed kitten there?”
Sebastian’s warm voice suddenly sounds soothing to her ears.
Knowing it was a gift from him and not some random serial killer, Adora opened the door, but nothing prepared her for what was behind the pink stuffed kitten.
Or rather, who.
Sebastian stood there with a 1.8 meters tall pink stuffed Kitten.
Adora’s eyes widened in shock and surprise.
“How did you get here?”
“I have my ways. Why, aren’t you happy to see me? I’ve brought you this, they say stuffed toys help girls relax.”
Adora loved stuffed animals, but never got to have one. Until she met Sebastian who seemed to know the solution to each of her problems.

“Oh Sebastian.” Adora threw herself into Sebastian’s waiting arms. Stuffed toy and all. With one arm around each. Sebastian
invited himself into the room.
Their sleeping arrangements that night was a little bit awkward. Adora had insisted on sleeping with the stuffed kitten, which ended up sandwiched between the two of them.
“Thank you, Sebastian.” A sleep ridden Adora whispered.
Snaking his hand around the toy into Adora’s hair, Sebastian played with the strands,
“What I want is not your thanks, Adora.”
What he wanted was her heart, and he was determined to have that.
Sebastian’s words fell on deaf as Adora has already fallen asleep. Her super–intensive rehearsals and the thunderstorm wore her body out, finally she had time to rest.
The next time Adora opened her eyes, it was morning and Sebastian was nowhere to be found. Only the stuffed animal laid in her arms on the wide bed.
Sebastian was already awake sitting on the couch and working on his laptop sorting out some files. He dressed from head to toe, the only thing missing were his shoes. Adora got up the bed and tipped toed over to him, surprising him with a hug from behind. After what happened last night, Adora felt closer to him than ever.
Sebastian pulled her into his arms, retuning the hug, while she took that time to study his face. She recalled the rumors about him being trapped in a burning building at the age of ten. Adora could only imagine how helpless and frightened he felt that
time.
Subconsciously, she reached out her hand to touch the scar on his face, but Sebastian intercepted it with his, stopping her before she could reach her destination.
“Stop looking at me like that unless you want me to eat you, kitten.” Sebastian whispered, leaning down for a kiss when a knock sounded on the door. He groaned. Every. Damn.Time!
“Adora! The performance is about start. Hurry up, we don’t have much time!” The person’s muffled voice came behind the
door.
“I’ll be right over in a minute!”
Adora called back, kissing Sebastian’s right cheek, she ran into the bathroom to get ready for the day.
When Adora was out for their performance, Sebastian recieved a call from Alex.
“Sir, something is about to happen to Ms Rockefeller that I needed to report to you.”
“What’s that?”
“The person I sent out to watch Ms Rockefeller reported seeing Ms Ashford ordering a bucket of red paint to be delivered to the venue of the competition.”
“You think she’ll pour it over Adora?”

“Certainly Sir. She is just a backstage dancer while Ms Rockefeller recieved the spotlight. I believe the plan to sabotage her performance.”
“This bitch is courting death.” Sebastian seethed.
At the backstage of the competition hall. Adora changed into her white ballet costume while Vivienne and the other students were chatting about their makeups.
Tall remember my promise? I’ll give a surprise later. When Adora is performing, don’t forget to snap pictures. I’ll broadcast it all over the school’s network” Vivienne giggled.
