Chapter 17
Valerie’s POV
Jerry released another sigh of defeat.
“I had planned how I was going to win you back today. I was so sure it was going to work, but as
I sat here, watching how happy you were with him, I knew nothing was going to bring you back to me.” He admitted with unshed tears in his eyes.
I stared at him unflinchingly.
He gave me a bitter smile. “I know I don’t deserve forgiveness for all I did to you, but I apologize for everything. I was a fool for not seeing the gem I had, till I lost it. So, please forgive me.”
I stayed silent, just watching him coldly.
He nodded slowly. “I understand.”
I folded my arms as I remembered something. “If you want my forgiveness,” I started, and he gazed up at me in hope. “Then accept the rejection.”
His face fell in dismay, and the tears in his eyes dropped down slowly. But he nodded slowly.
‘Alright, I can do that.” His voice broke. “I, Jerry Collins, accept your rejection.” He declared.
We both winced in unison as we felt the mate bond finally snapping. Jerry began sobbing in anguish.
blinked as a feeling of lightness and freedom engulfed me. It was an intoxicating feeling.
furrowed my eyebrows in confusion when my wolf started getting excited for some reason. It was almost like the moon goddess had given us a second chance mate.
Horror gripped me. “No, no, no,” I mumbled in terror, ignoring the sobbing Jerry.
didn’t want another mate, I just wanted Dante. Things were getting complicated.
My wolf was dancing in excitement. He’s close. I had to get out of here, I couldn’t face my second chance mate now.
A delicious scent flooded my senses, and I tensed. He was behind me. My mate was behind me. My wolf was jumping in joy, but all I felt was dread.
turned slowly with a cringe on my face as I prepared to reject another mate.
My mouth gaped open as I stared at my mate. He was as shocked as I was.
‘Well, this is interesting.” Dante muttered with a grin on his face.
couldn’t help it, I jumped into his arms with a squeal, and he held onto me tightly with a small augh.
couldn’t believe it, all these while, Dante was my second chance mate. But because my mate bond with Jerry hadn’t been broken completely, it wasn’t effective.
‘I love you,” he whispered softly.
A smile spread across my lips. “I love you too.” I replied.

I corked a potion and placed it in a box to be sent to the Healer’s Guild. Dante had encouraged me to continue with my talent in potions, making sure I had all the ingredients I needed for the potions I was making.
“Val?” He called, “You need to rest, don’t overexert yourself.” He said, approaching me with a fonc smile on his face.
“Yeah, I’m almost done. I have to send all these now, or they will be rendered useless.” I told him with an exhausted sigh.
He wrapped his arms around my waist with a hum. “Alright, I’ll wait for you.” He murmured against my neck.
I looked up at him with a soft smile. “Thank you, Dante.”
“Anything for the mother of my child,” he replied, rubbing my swollen belly tenderly.
I sighed in contentment.
My mind flashed back to my earlier conversation with Astrid.
She was giving me updates on what was going on in Montana.
Jerry had gone back so depressed and dejected that he had become negligent of his alpha duties. It got so bad that his father had to appoint Jerry’s beta to take over the pack as the alpha, while Jerry went ahead to kill himself out of depression.
According to Astrid, Jerry’s ruthless beating had caused Nancy to miscarry, as she was pregnant.
When she recovered, Jerry banished her from the Blue Moon pack, and she left the pack to live
as a rogue.
A hint of sympathy twinged within me, but I shook it off. Every action has a consequence. I was a good sister to her, but she had tried to ruin my life.
“What are you thinking of so deeply?” Dante asked, with a smile in his voice.
I smiled warmly. “Just thinking of how lucky I was to meet you.”
He chuckled. “No, I am the lucky one.”
