Chapter 16
We both glanced at each other and laughed. Then I tilted my head thoughtfully.
“Are you really going to send him an invite?” I asked, concerned. Dante nodded with a wide grin.
I furrowed my eyebrows in worry. “Are you sure? Why? He is going to try to disrupt the wedding” told him.
Dante nodded, “I know that.”
“Then why?” I asked in confusion.
He shrugged. “I remembered that he has not yet accepted the rejection of the mate bond. Even though you’re not feeling it, it’s still there, and I want all ties between the two of you to be cut off completely.” He admitted with a hesitant smile.
I nodded in understanding, then I paused. “What if he refuses to?” I asked.
Dante smirked mischievously. “Don’t worry, he will accept the rejection. Trust me.”
I narrowed my eyes at him in suspicion. “What are you planning, Dante?” I interrogated.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said, widening his eyes in fake innocence.
Finally, the day of the wedding was here. The same grand hall that was used for the feast was used for the wedding ceremony. The decorations, the arrangements, everything was so perfect. It was just what I had always wished it to be and more.
Alphas, Lunas and Betas from other packs came for the wedding ceremony. Even Jerry’s parents came for the wedding.
“You’re like a daughter to us. Of course we are going to attend your wedding ceremony. You did nothing wrong to us, we are the ones that wronged you.” Mrs. Collins had told me when I looked surprised to see them.
I shook my head, waving off their apologies. They were very good people. I turned to Mr. Collins with a warm smile.
“Please, can you walk me down the aisle?” I pleaded, and he nodded eagerly.
“It will be my pleasure,” He repeated.
Throughout the wedding ceremony, everything felt like a dream. It was bizarre as I watched Dante give his vows, and I gave mine, to the exchange of rings, to the wedding party.
While we slow–danced, a thought flashed through my mind, and I remembered that Dante had invited Jerry to the wedding ceremony.
“I haven’t seen Jerry yet. Do you think he changed his mind?” I asked. Dante shook his head with a smirk, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
“He’s here.” He replied, gesturing towards a corner of the room. I squinted my eyes as I finally noticed where he sat with slumped shoulders, with his back to us.
“Come on,” Dante stated, “Let’s go say hi.”

It was when I got closer that I noticed that he had been chained and gagged. I glanced at Dante.
Dante shrugged. “He was about disrupting the ceremony.” He replied coolly.
When we reached Jerry, he had a look of defeat in his eyes. There was no trace of his usual arrogance, anger or anything. All I could see in his eyes was just resignation and defeat.
Dante calmly removed the gag from his mouth.
“Valerie.” Jerry mumbled, giving me a soft look, then he turned to Dante with bitterness in his
eyes.
“You invited me here so that I could watch her get married, and lose all hope of ever getting back.” He spat out.
Dante shrugged, not bothering to deny it.
Jerry clenched his jaw in frustration, before he released a sigh of defeat. “Please, can I talk to Valerie alone?” He pleaded.
Dante opened his mouth, probably to reject it, but he must have seen something in Jerry’s eyes because he reluctantly nodded and gave me a reassuring smile before he excused himself.
