Chapter 8
Valerie’s POV
There was a time where his words would have made me swoon, and made my heart melt. But at this point, his words sounded hollow and empty. It was then I realized that I was actually over him; I felt nothing for him.
Our mate bond was dormant, just waiting to be broken completely.
He must have seen the cold expression on my face because his face fell, and he stood up.
“What’s going on? Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?” He asked with a small frown.
I shook my head. “Not with you,” I replied with a shrug.
His frown deepened. “I don’t understand, what’re you saying?”
Before I could respond, Dante’s cool voice responded.
“What she’s trying to say, Alpha Jerry, is that she’s already getting married to me.” He announced, walking towards us gracefully with a devilishly handsome smirk on his face.
Jerry blinked, looking dumbfounded for a moment. “What?” He asked incredulously.
“You heard me,” Dante replied coolly, standing beside me with his hands casually tucked into his pockets.
Jerry turned to me in disbelief. “If it’s a prank, Valerie, it’s not funny.”
“Jerry, it’s not a prank.” I told him firmly.
Jerry gaped me in shock, “What is this, Valerie?! What are you trying to do? You’re getting married, just like that? We’re mates, Valerie! You can’t do that!” He stepped closer, trying to reach
for me.
But Dante smoothly stepped in front of me, blocking him from coming further.
“That’s enough, Jerry. You can leave.” Dante said coldly. He was no longer teasing or taunting Jerry. He was dead serious now.
Jerry scowled at him in annoyance. “Stay out of this, whoever you are. This is between my mate and I.” He spat in anger.
Dante’s shoulders tensed. “Your mate?” He asked with an icy glare, “I thought Nancy was your mate?”
At the mention of Nancy’s name, Jerry tensed. “Is this what this is about?” He asked with a small frown on his face. “You’re my mate, Valerie, and Nancy is your sister. I’m only trying to make sure she gets the best before she passes on. You know that.” He pleaded.
I rolled my eyes at him, but Dante replied him. “Yeah, that’s why you got married to her, and hid it from Val.”
Jerry paled, and his eyes widened in horror. He shook his head frantically in denial.
“We have the video of everything, so you can’t deny it.” Dante informed him.
Jerry turned to me with a panicked expression on his face.
“Valerie, I can explain. I swear it’s not what you think. There’s nothing between Nancy and I. The wedding ceremony was fake. I was just trying to fulfill her last wish before she dies.” He pleaded.
Chapter 8
3:37 pm D
Anger rose up within me at his lying words, and I glared at him.
“There’s nothing between the two of you? Nothing at all?” I hissed, “How dare you stand there and lie to my face? Do you think I’m a fool?” I seethed.
His eyes widened slightly. “Valer-”
I cut him off. “Do you think I didn’t feel it? Do you think I didn’t feel when my mate was cheating on me with my own sister?” I snarled.
He inhaled sharply, and he shook his head with a pleading look on his face.
“It was a mistake, Valerie. I was so stupid, I wasn’t thinking straight, and I-”
I raised my hand to cut him off. “I don’t care, Jerry. Before you cheated on me, you were always showering your time and attention on her. Cheating on me with her was just the pushing point.” I
revealed.
He visibly deflated in defeat. “Val,” he murmured.
&
“Don’t call me that.” I spat. Only Dante was allowed to call me ‘Val‘.
Jerry opened his mouth to say more, but I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I wanted to be done with this conversation and Jerry.
“We’re done, Jerry.” I announced, and he tensed as he already knew what was coming next.
I took a deep breath. “I, Valerie Hayes, hereby reject you, Jerry Collins, as mate.”
