Chapter 7
Valerie’s POV
Dante paused, and there was silence at his end at first, then he released a deep threatenin growl. “That bloody bastard! How dare he?”
I released a bitter laugh, shaking my head. Finally, Jerry had given me the final push I needed t leave without looking back.
“Val,” Dante’s voice softened with concern, “Are you okay?”
I laughed more sincerely this time. “Oh yes, I am okay, Dante. It doesn’t even hurt the way thought it would,” I admitted. “I think…I’ve been done with him for a long time. This? This jus makes it official.”
“I’m ready to get married to you. I’m leaving Montana, and I’m coming to California now.” declared.

Immediately I told Dante I was coming to California, he quickly made arrangements for my movement to be smooth.
The moment I was out of the pack’s border, Dante had a private car waiting to take me to private airport.
As I got there, I saw that Dante was waiting for me there.
The moment he saw me, his eyes brightened up, and before I could say a word, he pulled me intc his arms, holding me tightly as if he was afraid I would disappear.
“You’re here,” he whispered softly.
“I’m here,” I replied as I melted into his embrace.
At that moment, I knew I had made the right choice. I was no longer wasting time with Jerry’s betrayal and Nancy’s games. I was with Dante–a man who saw me, valued me, and wanted me
to be his Luna.
I was so exhausted that I fell asleep immediately after the flight took off.
Immediately we landed, Dante was so excited that he had wanted to begin introducing me to as many people as he could – his pack, his parents. However, I was too drained physically and mentally, so Dante decided that I needed to rest first and settle down for a while.
Jerry didn’t notice that I wasn’t around for three days. On the third day, when he finally noticed that I wasn’t around, and that my bags were gone, he began calling and texting non–stop. At first I ignored them all, but they got so irritating that I finally blocked him. He should focus on caring for Nancy and let me be.
Astrid kept me updated whenever we spoke. According to her, Jerry had been calling her several times to ask if I had contacted her at all. He had been searching for me endlessly and relentlessly. She told me however, that his parents told him I was going on a vacation to California, so he was probably on his way to California.
I scoffed. “Where was he going to find me in California?”

“He probably didn’t think about that.” Astrid replied in amusement. “I can’t imagine the shock on his face when he finds out that you’re getting married.”
At her words, a thought flashed through my mind, and I smirked.
“I just thought of something crazy, Astrid.” I told her with a hint of mischief in my voice. “Why don’t we tell Jerry exactly where I am, so he can find out that I’m getting married?”
Astrid giggled in glee. “I love how you think, Valerie.”
Two days later, I was in the beautiful garden behind the alpha’s house, enjoying the cool afternoon breeze when I heard a familiar voice call my name.
“Valerie!” It was Jerry. I turned and lifted an eyebrow at him. He scrambled up the wall of the garden like a desperate man.
I barely recognized Jerry, because of how awful he looked. His face was sunken and pale like someone that hadn’t slept in days. His brown eyes were bloodshot and they looked haunted. “Valerie,” he called again, walking towards me, panting heavily.
I stared at him in revolt. His clothes were torn and he looked so unkempt.
“Finally, I’ve found you,” he breathed in relief. “What are you doing here? Why did you just disappear? And you refused to pick your calls or return my texts. Why, Valerie?” He asked softly, his eyes brimming with tears.
I gave him a flat stare. Why was he pretending like he didn’t know what he had done?
He wasn’t fazed by my non–reaction. Instead, he got down on his knees and brought out a gold ring from his pocket.
“My dear Valerie, I realize that I truly cannot live without you. Please come back home with me, let’s get married immediately. You’ll wear that wedding dress I’ve seen you admire so many times, and you’ll be mine forever.” He pleaded with desperation in his eyes.
