Depression 51

Depression 51

alerie’s POV

He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. I had always been pleading and begging for the wedding ceremony, but now I sounded uncaring about it. He wasn’t sure what to do

He held me closer, Are you okay, Valerie? He asked softly with a soft expression on his face

I nodded, Yeah, I’m fine.”

He leaned forward to kiss me, but I turned my face and he kissed my cheek instead. He clenched his jaw, and he finally released me and stepped backwards. He was annoyed. His phone beeped with a message. After he glanced at it, he turned to me absentmindedly. “Whatever. Take care of whatever is bothering you, it’s not attractive. I’m going out. Don’t wait up for me.”

From his actions and words, Nancy had been the one to text him, and he was probably going to see her now

Few minutes after he left, Nancy updated her WhatsApp status. It was a picture of her and Jerry. They were having dinner

I felt nothing as I stared at the picture, and I finally muted Nancy’s WhatsApp status. I was done

I needed to start working towards my future plans with Dante

The next morning, I wasn’t surprised to see that Jerry wasn’t back. I finalized the procedures that I needed to retrieve my stolen work on the Healing Moon Balm, then Dante and I finished concluding on some of the details for the wedding

Jerry came back later in the evening in a foul mood. He opened the front door, and slammed it behind him forcefully

Valerie! He yelled from the living room. At first, I didn’t want to reply, but his tone made me curious. What was he angry about

I slowly made my way to the living room. He was folding his arms as he frowned and tapped his foot impatiently

Hey, you’re back.I greeted. Jerry didn’t reply to me. Instead, his scowl deepened.

The Healer’s Guild called Nancy today. He started slowly

I paused. And?I asked indifferently

He gaped at my tone. And? Are you serious right now?! She was so close to winning the Award! He exclaimed. Why did you report that she stole your work?”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Was he really serious? Well, didn’t she?I retorted

He looked at me in shock like I was the one that was being unreasonable. She’s your sick sister, Valerie! Show some sympathy! Have a heart! He yelled

That doesn’t mean she can steal my work and claim it as hers!I retorted

That curse is eating into her quickly, and very soon she’ll be gone,Jerry’s voice broke slightly at that point, This is just one thing that she wants to experience before she dies. Why couldn’t you be a decent person and allow her to go on with it?He growled

Chapter

3:37 pm

Resentment pooled in my chest at his words. This was probably the same reason he had a wedding ceremony with her. I had let her have everything of mine that she wanted even when we were kids. Now, she had my mate, but I would never allow her claim my hard work and labour

Never

If she wants to experience it, then she has to earn it, she has to work for it. Not steal someone else’s work and labour.I gritted out through clenched teeth

Jerry gave me a disgusted sneer. I can’t believe you, Valerie. Then he walked out of the house and slammed the door hard as he passed

Anger boiled through me as I thought of Nancy’s audacity and Jerry’s stupidity

My phone rang, and a smile spread across my lips. It was Dante

I know it’s only two days left, but I really can’t wait to see you, and we can finally be togetherHe murmured softly. My heart melted and my face flushed slightly

Dante and I spent hours chatting on the phone, when suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. I winced but I ignored it and continued talking. However, the pain increased in intensity, and I cried out slightly in pain

Dante paused immediately. Val?He called in concern from the phone

The pain stabbed at me again, and I whimpered slightly

Hold on! I’m coming!Dante yelled, “Don’t disconnect the call. Keep talking to me, let me know that you’re okay.He pleaded with urgency in his voice, forgetting that he was in California, while I was in Montana

However, I couldn’t talk as tears ran down my face. I knew what that pain signified. It wasn’t physical like I had thought at first. This pain was different; it was from the mate bond between Jerry and I.

Dante,” I called softly, my voice shaking as tears ran down my face. Jerry is cheating on me.”
