Chapter 3

It was a live video of a wedding ceremony – a wedding ceremony between my mate, and my sister having a wedding ceremony. I watched numbly as they exchanged vows like real mates, and they kissed. As I stared at the video, the remaining hope I had about Jerry and I, fizzled out.
~
This wonderful and caring alpha has fulfilled my last wish of having a wedding ceremony with my true love before I die~ that was Nancy’s caption under the video.
I released a bitter laugh. Jerry had been postponing our wedding ceremony, claiming he was too busy with alpha duties, and so many others. Yet, here he was now, having a wedding ceremony with my sister because it was her last dying wish. He never informed me, never told me anything about it. He had kept it hidden from me. I watched as he ordered everyone present to keep it hidden, so I wouldn’t find out.
My wolf howled in pain as the mate bond between us trembled. I felt so betrayed. I kept calling him, but he never picked any of my calls. I went back to watch the video, holding my phone with trembling hands. He only had eyes for Nancy; he looked at her like she was his everything.
A piece of paper in my bag caught my attention. It was Dante’s number.
His proposal echoed in my head, and his sincere green eyes flashed through my mind. “Marry me. Be my Luna. I promise you Valeria, I’ll make you happy. I’ll love you with everything that |
have”
Dante was right, I deserved better.
With shaky hands I called his number. He picked on the first ring.
“Hey Alpha Dante, it’s me, Valerie. Let’s get married.”
~
Dante was so shocked to hear from me, and he was even more shocked to hear that I had accepted his proposal.
“Are you sure?” He kept asking to confirm. Even when he called to confirm the details, he stil asked again. But I was sure of my decision; I had made up my mind. Nothing was going to make me change it.
“Which would you prefer, a wedding band or a wedding ring?” He asked through the phone.
I shrugged, forgetting for a moment that he couldn’t see me before I replied.
“Anyone you prefer, I’m not picky.”
“Okay then, we’ll stick with the wedding ring.” He concluded.
“I’ll send you pictures of several wedding rings that you can choose from.” Dante said, “Just send me a message through WhatsApp to show me the one you prefer.”
“Okay, Have you decided on the wedding venue?” I asked.
It was at that point that Jerry entered. He must have heard the words ‘wedding venue‘, because alarm flashed through his face for a moment. “Wedding venue? What wedding venue?” He asked, staring at me in concern. I disconnected the call.
Intense dislike rose up within me, and I resisted the urge to sneer at him. Instead I looked at him

coldly, about to give him an excuse when my phone rang. My brows furrowed when I saw it was my sister, Nancy Hayes. What was she calling me for?
I reluctantly picked the call. “Hello”
“Hey, Valerie. Is Jerry close? I’m not feeling too good.” She murmured softly into the phone. knew what she was trying to do. She could have easily called Jerry’s phone, but she called me instead because she was taunting me if only she knew that I really didn’t care anymore.

However, the moment Jerry heard her voice and her words, he snatched the phone from me. “Hello, Nans, I’ll be there immediately. Don’t move.” He replied frantically.
He didn’t even say anything to me before he ran out like a mad man. He didn’t even remember that he was asking me a question before.
I stared after him as he ran to Nancy, neglecting me here. He had begged and pleaded for forgiveness for missing our special dinner. He had even rescheduled for another tonight, but it looked like he wasn’t going to make it either. However, I wasn’t moved or troubled. I had already made my peace with it.
