Julia’s POV
Darren threw himself into the investigation rigorously. He hadn’t gone home since that day. He had been sleeping at the office. He looked exhausted, he hadn’t shaved in days, and there were eye bags under his eyes.
After he finished writing down the new evidence they had gotten on the whiteboard, he began talking.
“All the evidence we’re seeing is showing that there was an insider in this pack that helped in this murder. The killers went through the front door. It wasn’t forced open, and there was no break–in, but there are signs of struggle inside the house..”
“According to what we’ve also found, this insider also had something to do with my…my mother’s death. So the insider must have had access to her medication to tamper with it.”
“The house has only two keys. The one with me, and the one that was with Ju… Julia. So they may have gotten a copy of the key and used it to get access to the house to tamper with the medications, then used it again to kill J..Julia.” Darren’s voice shook slightly.
Then he cleared his throat. “We couldn’t identify any of the scents in the house, the insider must have masked his scent very well.”
He paused, as he struggled to pull himself together. “After killing, they scattered the body parts at the border of the pack, then they sent the… the f..fetus to me.”
He took another deep breath. “They put the moonfire drugs into my mother’s medication, and also put it in my mate’s womb after removing my child in my home.”
“These are all acts of revenge aimed at me.” He gritted through clenched teeth.
Everyone in the room was enraged. These killers had killed their former Luna, their present Luna and their future Alpha.
They had gone too far now.
Sean narrowed his eyes thoughtfully with a hard expression on his face.
“But… why? Why would they kill someone in their own home? Torture them right there for days, without fear that someone would be back soon. Why were they so confident that no one would come home?” Sean asked.
Darren kept his eyes on the board to avoid the eyes that were staring at him in confusion, because it wasn’t saying well about him that he didn’t come see his pregnant mate for days.
Sean quickly continued talking to remove the negative attention from Darren.
“How could the killers be so sure that her family would not return? Unless…” he trailed off.
My heart pounded in my chest. Oh, they were so close. Everything was opening up. Darren took a deep breath.
“Unless they knew exactly where I was, or they were close to me somehow. The insider is close to me, but how are they disguising themselves?”
That was the main question.

3:34 pm AAD.
Even after everyone had gone home, Darren stayed behind. He stared at the whiteboard intently.
“What am I missing?” He murmured to himself.
I shook my head sadly. Darren, the answer is right there, but you just need to open your eyes to
see it.
You allowed your hatred for me to blind you to the truth, don’t allow your love for Tamara to blind you to the truth also.
Darren paused, then picked up a folder. It was the folder that had all the information they had about the Bloodhounds.
He flipped through the files, glancing through all the information.
“What am I missing?” He pleaded, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
He stood up from his chair, and began pacing. Then he started speaking loud to himself.
“Do we have a traitor in this pack? None of the pack members have any ties to the Bloodhounds, as far as I know.” He mumbled.
“Have they been sneaking into this pack through a secret passage that we don’t know? Oh my goodness, it means that Tamara is not safe here either.” He stated.
I face palmed in exasperation.
He hurriedly picked up his phone, but he paused with furrowed eyebrows.
“That’s strange. Tamara hasn’t called me since the day she came here and saw Julia’s body.” He
muttered out loud.
My heart raised in hope. Oh finally, you’re getting close, Darren.
His eyes widened in horror. “Is she okay? Have the killers gotten to her?”
I face palmed again. Darren, you are quite stupid sometimes.
He quickly dialed her number. She picked almost immediately.
“Hey Tammy, are you okay?” He asked with concern in his voice.
“Yes, I’m okay,” she replied with a cold tone.
Darren furrowed his eyebrows in concern. “Are you sure? We haven’t spoken in days, and you sound odd. Are you mad at me?” He asked softly.
Tamara sighed. “I’m not mad at you. I know you’re busy trying to find Julia’s killer and your mother’s killer. I’m fine.” She replied with a soft voice that sounded forced.
However, Darren nodded. “I’m sorry I haven’t been around. I’ll come back tonight, alright?”
“Okay, I’ll see you.” She replied.
Darren sighed in relief after disconnecting the call. “Thank goodness, she’s alright.”
I shook my head in despair. I felt hopeless.
Why can’t you just open your eyes?! You don’t have much time left! The killers want you dead too! I don’t want you to die! The pack needs you!
