Julia’s POV
Darren’s face hardened, and his eyes darkened just at the mention of my name. But he immediately softened his expression as he didn’t want Tamara to see that ugly version of himself.
He sighed. “Tammy, why are you bringing her up? You know what she did to my mother, how she….” He stopped with a frown. “It’s getting late, you should get some rest.”
‘But I can’t sleep, Darren,” She pouted.
“Don’t worry,” he said softly. “I’ll stay with you till you fall asleep, then I’ll go to my room.”
I watched painfully as Darren sat beside Tamara’s bed, whispering soft kind words to her. There was a softness in his eyes that I had never seen in all our years together. Tears pricked my eyes as I realized that I had never been loved by Darren.
Oh my dear Darren, if only you knew… if only you knew that the woman you were so concerned about was not as helpless as you thought.
The next day, Darren went with his team to the pack clinic to check the records for pregnant women that were around the age of the victim, hoping that it might give them a clue.
Unfortunately, the records were kept in paper files and they weren’t organized, so it was hard to search through them quickly.
By the time it was evening, they hadn’t yet gone through all the records.
Darren’s phone rang. It was Sean. “Alpha Darren, we have found something!”
He hung up the phone and rushed out of the clinic. I felt like screaming and yanking my hair out n frustration because the next file that Darren would have opened were my own records.
Just as Darren was leaving, two nurses hurried out. One of them was the head healer of the clinic, and the other was my nurse, Flora.
‘Oh no,” the head healer said to Flora, “Alpha Darren has gone. I have to tell him that we have news concerning his mother’s death.”
Flora sighed, looking concerned. “I wanted to ask him about Luna Julia, she hasn’t dropped by or her pregnancy checkup, and I can’t reach her on the phone.”
t was so frustrating to watch Darren so close, yet so far from the truth.
f he could only pause for a moment and really think…..
trailed behind Darren as he rushed back to the office. I felt so miserable and frustrated.
When he got pack to the investigation room, Sean explained to me what had happened. A bloody etter was found on Darren’s table, underneath his briefcase that he had kept on top his table.
t looked as though the letter had magically appeared there, because there was no clue on who had sent it, and there was no scent to trace who had dropped it.
~~ hope you liked my gift in the jar! ;)

The note was written with blood. Jim sniffed the note, but he shook his head in disappointment,

“It’s rat’s blood.” he announced.
Everyone was disappointed; they were probably hoping it was the blood of the victim or the murderer or someone that could give them a clue.
“What jar?” A task force member asked in confusion.
I could see as their minds began to connect the dots. Could it be the same jar that they had thought I had sent?
Darren’s eyes darkened in anger, and he glowered in anger.
He took out his phone and scrolled to his list of blocked numbers again, and called me. It went straight to voicemail, just like last time. He tried it several times, but it kept going to voicemail.
He clenched his jaw in frustration, and decided to send another voicemail message.
“Julia, what the fuck is your problem? Why are you playing all these sick games? I have a fucking job to do! Do you think I’ll ever forgive you for what you did? Never! So stop distracting me!” He yelled into the phone.
However, I could see some of the task force members shaking their heads subtly. They weren’t convinced that I was the one doing all these, it didn’t make sense.
But they didn’t have the mind to tell a furious Darren, only Sean, Darren’s beta, could do it.
Sean cleared his throat with a thoughtful expression on his face.
“Umm, Alpha. We need to be sure, maybe we should just check the doll.” He suggested.
Darren sneered, “Sean, don’t waste your time on Julia’s games. We have work to do.”
Fortunately, Sean insisted on checking it. “Alpha, please. Just twenty minutes.”
Darren clenched his jaw, and his eyes flashed in annoyance.
“Since you have insisted on wasting time on games and pranks, then go ahead. I’m going to check the files we have on the Bloodhounds. Come find me when you’re done playing around.” He growled out, and stormed off.
Sean took two members of the task force, and they began searching through the trash for the doll that Darren had flung away. It didn’t take long for them to find it as the waste bin in the office had been emptied the day before.
Sean studied the doll closely. He sniffed it, and his eyebrows furrowed. There was no scent on it, just like the note and the body parts. He turned it over and over in his hands, and suddenly his finger hit a secret button.
