Chapter 11 Too Close For Comfort
Jasmine’s Pov
I was flushed, eyes wide, my bare chest pressed against Silas’s hard one.
We were too close–dangerously close. I could feel his hot breath fanning my cheeks.
“Jasmine,” he whispered, voice husky. His hands were still on my waist, rubbing slow circles into my skin. My breath hitched.
Then, before I could think, I leaned into him. Our lips met again. Fierce. Urgent.
His mouth moved against mine with a hunger that scared me.
He backed me into the wall as his hands cupped my face, deepening the kiss.
My thoughts scattered. I was drowning in him–his touch, his scent, the way his lips moved like he knew exactly what I craved.
I didn’t even notice when we ended up on the bed, limbs tangled together, skin flushed, breathing
hard.
Somewhere between the dizzying kisses and the heat, my mind snapped back.
“What am I doing?” I gasped, pulling away.
I grabbed the duvet, dragging it up to cover myself. My chest was rising and falling like I’d run a
marathon.
Silas sat up fast, like he’d been burned. “This–this is a bad idea,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair.
“You think?” I snapped.
He stood, clearly frustrated. “You were the one dancing around half–naked.”
“Excuse me?” I blinked in disbelief. “You’re blaming me now?”
He turned to face me. “We’re two people sharing a room now, Jasmine. Be careful next time.”
I narrowed my eyes. “How about you learn to control yourself?”
He walked closer, eyes dark. “You expect me to control myself when you look like that? You’re a full–blooded, sexy, naked woman, Jasmine.”
His words hit me like a slap. My face turned crimson as I pulled the duvet tighter and buried my face under it.
There was a sharp knock at the door.
‘Is everything alright in there?” Rose’s voice floated in.
Silas cleared his throat. “We’re fine, Mom.”
She laughed. “Alright, I’ll stop disturbing you. You two go ahead and enjoy your newlywed night.”
groaned into the duvet. This couldn’t be happening. How did I end up here? Kissing Silas twice n one day? Sharing a bed? This wasn’t part of the deal.
Jasmine, Silas’s voice was softer now. “I’m sorry.”
didn’t respond. I stayed buried under the covers, hiding from reality. Eventually, exhaustion took
over.
5:16 pm 5555
When I opened my eyes again, sunlight was slipping through the curtains. I blinked and turned to the side–Silas was sleeping on the floor, a separate bed sheet wrapped around him.
My heart did a strange little flip.
He looked peaceful. Hair messy. His long lashes cast shadows on his sharp cheekbones. Why did he have to be so annoyingly attractive?
I stared for a bit longer than I should’ve.
Then suddenly–his eyes opened.
He caught me.
“Good morning,” he said, smirking. “Didn’t know you were that obsessed with me. Waking up early just to stare into my eyes?”
I scowled. “Please. Don’t flatter yourself.”
Before he could respond, we heard a knock.
“Are you two awake?” Rose again.
Silas jumped up and rushed to the bed, slipping under the duvet beside me.
“What are you-” I hissed.
“Shhh,” he whispered. The door opened.
Rose walked in, holding a tray with two bowls and glasses of juice.
“Good morning, lovebirds,” she said sweetly. “I made breakfast. After such a strenuous night, you need to regain your energy.”
She winked, eyes flickering to the blankets and bedsheet on the floor. My cheeks burned.
Silas sat up. “Mom, you didn’t have to-”
“It’s nothing” she waved him off. “You’re still on your honeymoon. Let me spoil you.”
I smiled awkwardly. “Thank you, Rose. But really, you should rest. I’m supposed to be taking care of you.”
“I’m fine,” she beamed. “Now eat up. I’ll leave you two alone… unless you need help making babies?”
“Mom!” Silas groaned, but she was already gone.
I stared at the door in disbelief. “She’s not going to let us off, is she?”
Silas leaned back. “Just give it time. She’ll calm down.”
I wasn’t so sure.
I dug into the breakfast quickly, not because I was starving but because I needed a distraction.
Silas watched me, amused.
“What?” I asked between bites.
“You eat like you’re preparing for battle.”
“Well, living here feels like one.”
He chuckled. “That bad already?”
5:17 pm
“Worse.” I finished the last spoonful and wiped my mouth. “This house is too big. And sharing a bed with you is… confusing.”
“Want me to sleep on the floor again?” he offered.
“No,” I said quickly, then regretted it. “I mean–just don’t make it weird.”
He grinned. “You’re the one who made it weird by stripping in the middle of the room.”
I scowled, “I wasn’t stripping.”
Silas phone pinged and he stared at it with a frown as he stood up suddenly.
“I have to go,” he said.
