Chapter 16
Riley turned around in disbelief,
The spot where she had been standing was now completely destroyed. An industrial light had fallen from the celling, creating a deep crater in the wooden stage floor with long cracks radiating outward.
The person who had embraced her was Theo, who had rushed onto the stage. His leg had been hit by the falling ligga fixture, and shards of broken glass from the bulbs were embedded in both their calves and feet.
The entire stage was in chaos.
Backstage crew members, classmates, and audience members all rushed forward at once.
Theo held Riley, who seemed frozen in shock, and kept asking if she was alright. But he noticed she was staring fixedly in one
direction.
Following her gaze, Theo saw the girl who had hit her with the car and fought with her that day,
He watched as the girl gave them a look of disgust before turning and leaving the hall, with the boy from that day following
close behind her.
Only after they had completely disappeared from sight did Riley seem to come back to herself. She turned to look at Theo, the pain and distress in her eyes completely unconcealed.
“Theo, it hurts so much…” she said before losing consciousness.
“Riley! Riley!” Ignoring his own injuries, Theo picked her up and rushed to the infirmary.
“Doctor, please check if she’s okay!” The infirmary was empty except for one doctor who was busy writing something.
Seeing them enter with blood–stained clothes, the doctor quickly stood up and directed Theo to place Riley on the bed.
After carefully inquiring about the situation and examining Riley, the doctor said: “She’ll be fine. She just fainted from shock.”
The doctor then carefully treated the wounds on Riley’s legs, removing glass fragments while sighing: “Such bad luck for this young lady. She just sprained her wrist in a car accident not long ago, and now she’s been hit by a falling light…”
Theo’s eyes darkened, and his expression grew stormy.
Connecting the previous car accident with this incident, and remembering the girl with the venomous expression, Theo felt that these might not be simple accidents.
Just then, the doctor finished treating Riley’s wounds and bandaged her legs.
Noticing that Theo’s leg was also covered in blood, the doctor changed his tools and began treating Theo’s injuries.
“Your injuries are much more serious than hers…”

Chapter 16
His leg had extensive bruising where it had been struck. Fortunately, the bone wasn’t damaged, but his Achilles tendon was injured. The fact that he had carried someone this far while injured showed remarkable pain tolerance.
The doctor carefully sprayed medication on Theo’s wounds and wrapped them in bandages, thoroughly cleaning the cuts on
his feet.

Just as he finished, Riley opened her eyes.
Theo immediately stood up, asking Riley how she felt and if anything hurt.
Riley stared at him blankly, as if she didn’t recognize where she was.
Suddenly, she looked at the doctor with terror in her eyes and asked in a trembling voice: “My legs…”
The doctor didn’t immediately understand and repeated her words: “Your legs…”
Before he could finish, Riley burst into painful sobs: “No, no, no… I still couldn’t save them…”
“It hurts so much, Theo… Why? Why would they do this to me?!”
Theo was startled and confused. He held the sobbing girl, whose shoulders were trembling, trying to comfort her while asking: “Riley, don’t cry. Is it your leg that hurts? Or somewhere else?”
Even the doctor was alarmed. By all accounts, her injuries shouldn’t cause this level of pain.
“Did you hurt yourself somewhere else? The leg injuries are just superficial wounds, they shouldn’t hurt that much…”
“Superficial wounds?” Riley stopped crying, though her voice still hitched with sobs, tears still streaming down her face.
She looked at the doctor and Theo, suddenly realizing she was in the school infirmary.
“Yes.” With the doctor’s confirmation, Riley lifted her blanket to see her legs–bandaged in a few places but otherwise intact.
Riley immediately relaxed, though she couldn’t stop her tears: “I thought I’d lost my legs again… I thought…”
