Chapter 11
Riley stayed in her dorm for two days, turning down all of Nathaniel’s invitations to go out, using a cold as her excuse.
She needed time to think.
In her room, Riley went over everything that had happened in the following six months of her previous life.
She couldn’t be certain that taking precautions would definitely prevent the accident.
So she needed to be fully prepared–not only to prevent being hit again, but also, if her fate couldn’t be changed, to ensure that these two awful people wouldn’t destroy everything again.
The thought that she might be unable to prevent it all, that she might once again face the agony of losing her legs…
Riley couldn’t sleep.
The pain of losing her legs combined with the trauma of her suicide attempt overwhelmed her.
She couldn’t close her eyes without feeling like countless hands were tearing at her legs, violating her very soul.
After suffering through this torment for two nights, she finally collapsed onto her desk and fell into a deep sleep.
When she woke up, it was already dark, and the rumbling in her stomach signaled her hunger.
“What should I eat?” Riley murmured to herself.
In her previous life, she had been hit tomorrow morning at the entrance to the second cafeteria, along a tree–lined boulevard with few people around.
That was
precisely why that psycho Victoria, after hitting her, had been able to reverse the car and deliberately crush her legs.
Which was
why they’d had to be amputated.
Remembering that moment, Riley still felt intense pain in her legs.
It was an agony etched into her bones–something she would never forget.
With this in mind, she immediately decided never to go near the second cafeteria again. That place was traumatic for her.
After thinking it through, Riley decided to go to the first cafeteria.
It was located right across from the library, close to the classroom buildings. Though the road was also wide, it was always
crowded.
Since it was situated between the library and classrooms, students would flock there after class. Surely Victoria wouldn’t dare try to hit her in front of so many witnesses.
But Riley had overlooked something.

Victoris was insane
How could you apply rational thinking to a madwoman?
She really would dare
As Riley approached the first cafeteria, the tented something was wrong,
The cafeteria and library faced each other, with a main road connecting them to the campus entrance between the targ buildings.
Usually, this road was busy with traffic.
Because of the high volume of both pedestrians and vehicles, cars never parked on this road.
But tonight, there were two black cars parked under the trees in front of the library plaza,
As Riley walked past, she felt like someone was watching her from inside, but she couldn’t see anything when the loket
“No way, the timing isn’t right until tomorrow. She can’t be planning to hit me today. Plus, I remember Victoria had a white
car…”
Riley was still muttering to herself when suddenly, the headlights of the first car flashed on.
It charged straight at her!
Riley sprinted toward the classroom building, but the car–as if anticipating her move–was already driving at an angle to cut her off. Seeing no escape, Riley closed her eyes in anguish.
“Look out!” someone shouted.
The expected pain never came. With that warning cry, a young man tackled her to the ground.
Riley quickly recovered and jumped to her feet.
She swiftly grabbed stones piled under a nearby tree and hurled them at the car, smashing the driver’s window.
