Chapter 6
After days, the media was in a frenzy as we had decided to announce the engagement with a
thrill.
Wallace Huber to announce engagement soon–who is the mystery bride?
Speculation was wild. His engagement had been confirmed, but the bride’s identity remained a secret. Some believed it was a strategic alliance with a wealthy heiress. Others whispered it could be someone from the Lindsey family, given recent events.
I read the headlines without flinching. Let them wonder. Let them talk. Soon, they would all
know.
And I will make sure that Bryan would regret.
He might be regretting it right now as the messages never stopped. Unknown numbers. Social media notifications. Calls I refused to answer.
Bryan was desperate but it was even too late for him. I blocked every number, deactivated my accounts, and erased every trace of contact. There was no way I would let him reach me.
Because I knew the truth. Bryan didn’t want me back. He wanted to fix his reputation.
After the viral video of Bryan being blindsided with divorce papers and the world realizing he had a wife all along, his stocks had started plummeting. It took weeks for that results but then nvestors were pulling out now. His business was taking a hit. It seemed whatever he had done or the past weeks to stop it were useless.
On the other hand, Suzanne was also facing backlash, but since there was no concrete evidence ‘et about what she did to me, she was still living freely. Not for long.
wasn’t even sure why he was begging me when he wasn’t even trying to hide his relationship vith Suzanne. He was still following Suzanne around, still being seen with her, smiling for the cameras as if nothing had happened. He wanted me back in private while parading her in >ublic.
Pathetic. If he wanted to play dirty, then I would end him properly.
picked up my phone and dialed a publishing house.
Hello?”
I have a story for you,” I said, my voice calm. “Bryan Midnight’s wife didn’t just leave. She ran way because of his betrayal. And I have proof.”
Words from that live video weren’t enough so now I had decided to send everything. Videos. Documents. Pictures of them together. Screenshots of his texts, his calls, his apologies. Everything that would ruin him and Suzanne.
Then I waited for the world to tear them apart.
Days later, I went shopping. The Lindseys owned one of the most exclusive shopping malls in he country. A luxury haven where celebrities and the elite shopped for designer clothes, jewelry, and the finest accessories.
needed the perfect outfit for the banquet. I was browsing through racks of silk gowns when I elt it.
3:58 pm DON
A shift in the air. A familiar presence. I turned–and there they were. Bryan and Suzanne.
His eyes widened the moment he saw me. He was at my side in seconds, grabbing my wrist.
“Mitch,” he said, voice low. “What the hell is going on? Why did you leave? Why are you doing
this?”
I looked at his hand, then up at him.
“You know why,” I said simply. “I’m not here to explain myself so don’t try to be innocent. The world even knows about it, so it was useless to beg.”
Suzanne scoffed. “What are you even doing here? This place is out of your budget.”
I smirked. “That’s none of your business.”
Bryan frowned. “Don’t talk to her like that.”
“Of course,” I said, crossing my arms. “Siding with your mistress. What would the world say if they learned about what you did to me? Don’t worry, you just have to wait.”
Suzanne’s face twisted in rage. “You-”
She lunged at me, but before she could get close, two men stepped forward. My bodyguards.
They blocked her effortlessly, stopping her in her tracks.
I tilted my head, watching her struggle. “You really thought you could touch me?”
Suzanne’s eyes darted between me and the two men standing protectively at my side. Confusion flickered across her face. Bodyguards? Who was I? She might be thinking of those.
I gave her a knowing smile before turning away. “Don’t waste my time.”
I walked past them, leaving Suzanne fuming and Bryan speechless. I heard them asking why I had bodyguards, but of course, they wouldn’t get one. I ignored them, but a part of me was still hurt. I couldn’t believe I loved a man like Bryan. I was blinded.
After choosing what I wanted, I started leaving but the commotion started. Suzanne’s voice rang through the shop.
“My bracelet! It’s missing!”
The sales attendants rushed to her side as she clutched her wrist dramatically.
“It was right here,” she whined, loud enough for everyone to hear. “And now it’s gone.”
Then she turned to me.
“You.”
I blinked. “Excuse me?”
Her lips curled into a vicious smirk. “You must have taken it.”
I laughed. “Are you serious?”
The staff hesitated. They didn’t know who I was. To them, I was just a random customer. And Suzanne? She was a famous model.
One of the employees stepped forward. “Miss, we need to check your bag.”
I rolled my eyes but held it out. “Go ahead.”
I had nothing to hide. Or so I thought. The staff unzipped my bag, rummaging through it–then

3:58 pm D froze.
Slowly, they pulled out a delicate, diamond–encrusted bracelet.
My breath caught.
What the hell? This bitch! She wouldn’t really stop.
Gasps filled the store.
“I knew it!” Suzanne shrieked. “She’s a thief!”
The staff hesitated, but the accusation was loud enough that people had started staring.
“She stole from me,” Suzanne continued, her voice shaking with fake distress. “She’s poor. Ar orphan. Of course she would do something like this.”
The words hit like a slap.
I clenched my fists. “I didn’t take that.”
One of the security guards approached. “Ma’am, we need to-‘
“I’ll call the police,” Suzanne cut in, pulling out her phone.
Then, just like that-
They dragged me away.
