Chapter 7
Scarlett called Ethan, but after he hung up on her three times, she lost her patience.
She texted him instead.
Sure enough, he called back within two minutes.
His voice was heavy with exhaustion.
“Summer’s sick. I need to be with her.”
“Let’s do the last request in a couple days.”
He was about to hang up when Scarlett yelled, “No way!”
Ethan laughed coldly at her outburst.
“It’s just two days, not breaking the deal. Back off, Scarlett!”
Scarlett felt a lump in her throat and had to swallow back the pain.
She forced a lighthearted tone and laughed, even though her whole body ached.
“Ethan, just one thing left and you’re free. Having second thoughts? Still want to stay
married? Fine by me!”
Ethan always fell for this type of provocation.
After hanging up, Scarlett laughed while clutching her phone.
Until tears slid down her face into her mouth, the bitterness twisting like a knife in her
heart.
Afraid Ethan might notice something wrong or mock her on her deathbed, Scarlett had Tania do her makeup before he arrived.
The trip downstairs should’ve taken five minutes, but Scarlett needed nearly twenty to
reach Ethán.

Chapter 7
“God, you’re slow. Last request. Spit it out!”
Seeing his impatience, Scarlett took her time.
She sat in his passenger seat and carefully buckled her seatbelt.
Only then did she look at him.
“Simple. Cook me lunch.”
Ethan stared at her in disbelief. “Just lunch? That’s it?”
Scarlett nodded.
“Just lunch.”
Ethan’s suspicious gaze kept returning to her.
For the first four requests, Scarlett had been difficult and picky.
For this final one, he’d expected something as impossible as asking for the moon.
Instead, she just wanted him to cook her a meal.
He checked the time, sent a few texts, then drove to the supermarket.
This was Scarlett’s first time grocery shopping with Ethan.
Their first time acting like a normal married couple.
Ethan pushed the cart while Scarlett stood beside him choosing items.
At checkout, Scarlett stood next to him.
When a kid came running wildly toward her, Ethan instinctively pulled her behind him.
His hand gripped hers tightly.
Scarlett looked down at their clasped hands, her eyes misting over.

Chapter 7
This was the second time Ethan had taken her hand voluntarily.
But before she could feel the warmth of his palm, he abruptly let go.
She followed Ethan back to their marital home.
They didn’t have many memories in this apartment.
Forced to marry her, Ethan had rebelled in every way possible afterward.
His ninety–nine affairs were just the tip of the iceberg.
After changing his shoes, Ethan went straight to the kitchen.
The moment he turned away, Scarlett’s strength gave out and she slid to the floor.
By the time he returned, her expression was back to its usual calm, looking at the food he’d
prepared.
She hadn’t known Ethan could cook.
The man who was too proud to bow to anyone had learned to cook for a woman.
Ethan really loved Summer…
“So much food? Can we eat all this?”
Scarlett frowned at the endless dishes he kept bringing out.
In her current condition, she couldn’t eat much at all.
She’d reveal her secret if she tried to eat more than a few bites.
Ethan set down the last plate with a calm expression.
“Who said it’s just the two of us?”
