Scarlett lowered her eyes. She’d seen Ethan take Summer to an amusement park, tirelessly taking photos with her.
She wasn’t trying to compete with Summer.
Going to an amusement park with Ethan was her childhood wish.
This fourth request was fulfilling a dream for little Scarlett.
Though Ethan was physically beside her, his mind was elsewhere.
His eyes never left his phone. When she asked him to take photos, she had to call his name
four or five times before he’d look up.
As night fell, Ethan urged her to leave three times, but she ignored him.
Until the Ferris wheel lit up in the distance.
Her eyes filled with hope as she pointed toward it.
“Just ride this with me and we can go.”
Seeing the light in Scarlett’s eyes, Ethan froze.
After a moment, he spoke coldly.
“Scarlett, even at the top of the Ferris wheel, I’m not going to love you.”
Time ticked away.
Scarlett’s eyes stung. She quickly turned away.
“What are you talking about? I just haven’t ridden one before!”
A phone ring broke the silence.
Summer sounded urgent on the other end.

After hanging up, Ethan rushed off again.
This time, he didn’t even bother to apologize.
When the Ferris wheel reached its peak, Scarlett looked down at the city lights.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she whispered.
“Happy birthday, Scarlett.”
After that day, Scarlett was rushed to the hospital with a high fever.
The beeping machines around her seemed distant.
In her hazy state, she thought she saw Ethan visiting.
Looking at her half–dead appearance with zero compassion.
Ethan smirked and laughed at her.
“Serves you right! What goes around comes around!”
“Just die already so I don’t have to do your stupid last request.”
Dream–Scarlett was furious, but her heart felt like it had been soaking in lemon juice for
days.
She forced herself to open her eyes,
But the person she wanted to see wasn’t there.
“Thank God you’re awake. Do you know how long you’ve been out?”
Scarlett had always been proud and their social circle was all about status.
With the Reid family fallen and Ethan openly hostile to her, everyone had picked sides.
They all knew when the Reid family fell, Ethan would be the first to laugh.

So they’d all distanced themselves from her early on.
The only person Scarlett could talk to was this nurse who had been taking care of her.
Hearing her words, Scarlett looked up anxiously.
“What’s the date today?”
Tania West thought Scarlett was worried about how little time she had left.
Hiding her emotions, she carefully tried to comfort her.
“It’s the 28th, Scarlett-”
“Where’s my wig?”
Scarlett cut her off.
Tania was taken aback.
“Right here. I put it away for you.”
Scarlett curled her fingers and took the wig from her.
With downcast eyes, it was impossible to guess what she was thinking.
“Tania, while I was unconscious… did anyone come to see me?”
She asked timidly, clutching the wig tightly.
Tania felt sorry for her.
But she didn’t want to lie.
“Scarlett, Ethan didn’t come.”
Tania quickly turned away, blinking back tears.
Not only had he not comé, he wouldn’t even listen when she called and hinted at Scarlett’s
condition.
