He knelt down, completely numb like a body without a soul.
Carefully, he took out the funeral money and tossed it into the burning pot.
He needed to know where Scarlett was buried.
He missed her so badly he couldn’t sleep night after night.
He’d asked his assistant.
But his assistant told him Scarlett’s death came from an anonymous letter.
The letter contained photos of Scarlett’s canceled ID, her medical records, and just a gravestone showing only her name–nothing else.
He had no idea where Scarlett was buried.
The news hit Ethan like a lightning bolt.
But then he quickly remembered the woman who kept seeking revenge on him–Tania.
She was Scarlett’s friend. She must know where Scarlett was buried.
Most likely, Tania had buried her herself.
Without thinking, he rushed to Tania’s place.
When he arrived, he discovered she’d moved out.
All her contact information had been changed.
He sent people to investigate/but found nothing.
He knew this was also part of Tania’s revenge.
“Ethan, what did I do wrong?” Summer cried. “Why are you doing this to me? How have I ever hurt you?!”

She desperately grabbed at Ethan’s pant leg.
He kicked her away.
Then he threw photos down onto her, one by one.
“You knew Scarlett was sick all along, didn’t you?” His voice was hollow and raspy, like he might cough blood any second.
Summer’s eyes narrowed in panic. She instinctively wanted to lie, but the photos Ethan had thrown clearly showed her.
She scrambled to explain.
But Ethan didn’t want to hear her bullshit.
He bent down suddenly, his hand crushing her slender neck, watching Summer’s face turn
as pale as his own.
Tears streamed down Ethan’s face as he laughed maniacally, looking terrifyingly twisted.
“IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!” he roared. “ALL BECAUSE OF YOU! You told me she was faking it! Because of you I didn’t even get to see her one last time!”
Summer fought desperately to pry his fingers off.
Suddenly, Ethan let go.
She crawled away to the corner, gasping for air, her eyes wild with terror.
Seeing Ethan just sitting there crying and staring at Scarlett’s memorial photo, she found the courage to lash out.
“You’d kill me for Scarlett?! Where’s your conscience, Ethan?!”
“So what if I wasn’t there when you were blind! Didn’t YOU betray ME first? YOU promised to love me forever! YOU said only I could be Mrs. Brooks! But what were you doing when your family forced me to leave? Fighting with Scarlett!!!”

After her outburst, she trembled with fear.
She was terrified he’d strangle her again any second.
But Ethan’s eyes never left Scarlett’s photo.
He took down the photo with shaking hands, his fingers caressing it obsessively.
“You’re right. I don’t love you. I love Scarlett.”
Summer’s pupils contracted in shock.
Before she could react, Ethan’s cold gaze fell on her again..
“Summer, there’s a price for doing wrong.”
