Chapter 19
Ethan looked down at Summer’s grip on his arm and coldly shook her off.
“She’s dead.”
“Dead? No way!”
At first glance, Summer thought R+ had just made these paintings for Ethan.
But looking through them, she noticed several were clearly years old.
Ethan didn’t answer.
After a moment, he let out a bitter laugh.
“Summer, was it really you by my side back then?”
Summer froze. Seeing Ethan’s eyes, her heart raced and her nails dug into her palms.
“Ethan, you keep asking me this. Don’t you trust me?” she whined. “What are you questioning? Or do you wish it wasn’t me? I get it now. Did that bitch Scarlett tell you something? Not only did she scheme to steal you from me, now she’s trying to come between us!”
She burst into dramatic tears, secretly watching Ethan’s reaction.
She expected him to rush over and comfort her at the first sob.
But he didn’t move an inch toward her.
Shocked, she even forgot to squeeze out more tears.
Ethan kept his eyes down, carefully rearranging the paintings she’d messed up.
“E–Ethan?”
Ethan’s movements were mechanical as he turned to her. “Didn’t you want to meet R+?”

“I’ll take you to her.”
Summer’s heart leapt with excitement.
Thinking Ethan believed her, she quickly followed him.
During the drive, Ethan didn’t say a word.
Seeing the increasingly deserted road, she grew uneasy.
“Ethan baby, why would R+ live somewhere so remote?”
Ethan stared straight ahead, not answering.
“How much longer, Ethan?”
Summer looked at this unfamiliar Ethan, feeling something was very wrong.
“Here.”
His voice was flat.
Summer saw a lone villa in the distance and felt a chill.
As Ethan opened the door for her, she suddenly grabbed his hand.
“Isn’t it rude to just show up? And I didn’t bring anything.”
“I did.”
Ethan remained emotionless.
He took several packages from the trunk.
Seeing how prepared he was, Summer relaxed.
“You’re so good to me, Ethan.”
“If she agrees to take me as her student, I’ll become super famous!”

Ethan just stared down at her.
Summer linked her arm with his.
She was about to knock when Ethan pulled out a key.
Before she could wonder why he had a key, he led her inside.
The huge villa was dark, without a single light on.
Summer reached for a light switch but Ethan slapped her hand away.
The force made her accidentally kick over something at her feet.
She instinctively looked down.
“AHHH!”
The black bag Ethan had brought in spilled open.
Funeral money scattered out, some landing on her feet.
Her eyes widened as she finally noticed what was wrong with this house.
Nobody lived here!
In the corner of the living room stood a photo, candles, and funeral offerings!
She turned to run out but found Ethan blocking the door.
“E–Ethan! What are you doing?!”
Ethan had been expressionless until now.
But seeing her try to leave, his eyelid twitched.
“Didn’t you want to meet her?”
He sneered at her.

In the next moment, he grabbed her arm and dragged her to the corner.
Summer screamed hysterically, struggling so hard her shoes came off.
When she saw Scarlett’s face in the photo, her eyes bulged.
“AHHH!”
“Why is it HER? Scarlett’s dead? She’s actually dead?”
Summer looked at the photo in terror, then back at Ethan.
Ethan’s face was deathly pale as he slowly walked toward Summer.
Summer trembled uncontrollably, backing away.
Until she had nowhere left to go.
Ethan grabbed her hair and dragged her in front of Scarlett’s memorial photo.
With a violent jerk, he smashed her head against the floor.
Summer screamed in pain.
THUD!
THUD! THUD!
When Ethan finally let go, Summer’s forehead was covered in blood.
She was dazed from the impact, too terrified to stand.
Ethan brought over a burning pot and crouched next to her, lighting it.
