Ethan stayed with Summer all night.
But early the next morning he rushed to the airport.
After thinking all night, he still needed to confront Scarlett.
Did she enjoy making a fool of him?
After landing, he arrived at the second city mentioned in Scarlett’s letter – Portland.
This letter also specified the hostel location.
But when the hostel owner told Ethan that Scarlett had already checked out…
He wanted to find and curse her.
He even suspected Scarlett and her friend were deliberately messing with him!
He angrily called Tania.
She was assisting in surgery and couldn’t answer.
Ethan could only swallow his frustration and call his assistant to track down Scarlett.
He couldn’t trust these letters anymore.
Sitting in the small courtyard of the hostel, feeling the gentle breeze, he gradually calmed
down.
The place was peaceful. Many tourists stood on the bridge taking photos.
As he walked over, an old lady approached him.
“Sir, Want to take a picture?”
Ethan wasn’t interested in photos but was drawn to the display pictures.

“How much for this one? I’ll buy it.”
The old lady looked at him like he was crazy.
“Sorry, these are customer photos. Not for sale.”
Even though it was just a silhouette.
Ethan casually sent the old lady $100 and explained.
“You misunderstood. This person is my wife. I came here looking for her but she left early.”
The old lady suddenly understood.
“So she’s your wife.”
“Young man, be good to that girl. She has a kind heart.”
Ethan didn’t say much, just clutched the photo tightly as he returned to the hostel.
That night he sat outside in the gazebo, holding the silhouette photo between his fingers,
blowing smoke rings in frustration.
His mind drifted to his first time with Scarlett.
It was the day he broke up with Summer.
He’d been drinking heavily, not wanting to go home and see Scarlett’s face.
But his friend misunderstood and took him home anyway.
That night his stomach hurt from the alcohol.
Scarlett got up to make him sobering soup. He was so drunk he mistook her for Summer.
By the time he realized, the mistake had already happened.
He could only continue the mistake, deliberately calling out Summer’s name. He felt Scarlett’s body freeze and saw hot tears stream from her eyes.

He closed his eyes tightly, pushing himself deeper into her softness.
Afterwards, Scarlett reverted to her prickly nature, coldly mocking him.
“Ethan, your skills suck so bad I wouldn’t take them even if you paid me!”
He’d hurt her deeply and she was determined to hurt him back with interest.
With her personality, even when he felt he’d gone too far, her sharp responses made him lash out even harder.
Back in the city, Ethan no longer rushed to find Tania.
Instead he waited for his assistant’s message.
Summer kept calling him.
He used to be thrilled by her calls but now they just irritated him.
He lied about being on a business trip while hiding in their home.
Then Tania called.
“I got the third letter.”
Ethan composed himself, no longer rushing over eagerly.
After a pause he said “I know. I’m in a meeting. I’ll come get it later.”
Shortly after hanging up, someone knocked urgently at his door.
His brow furrowed with unease, like something bad was about to happen.
Then he saw his assistant’s panicked face.
“B–boss… I found Mrs. Brooks.”
Ethan’s eyebrow twitched,
