Ethan wasn’t searching blindly.
Scarlett’s letter detailed everything she planned to do in San Francisco – places to eat, sights to see, and a few hostels she’d picked out.
Ethan checked each place until he finally found where she’d stayed.
He recognized it by the large confession wall outside the entrance.
He spotted Scarlett’s name on the wall.
He smirked as he entered the hostel, imagining Scarlett’s shocked face when he’d catch her.
“Miss Reid? Yes, she stayed here. But she’s already left!”
“Left?!”
Ethan felt like he’d been punched in the chest. His ears rang.
He’d traveled all this way to find her, and she was gone?
“Yes, she’s gone. Sir, here’s your room card.”
Ethan frowned as he took the card.
Since he was already there, Ethan decided to visit the places Scarlett had mentioned in her letter.
It felt like he was following a guided tour she’d created.
He walked through the same alleys, ate at the noodle shop she recommended, and took a boat tour of the bay and hills.
His irritation gradually calmed.
That night back at the hostel, he watched a group of friends laughing at a nearby table. He suddenly felt lonely.

Somehow, he found himself thinking about those days arguing with Scarlett.
The owner brought him a bottle of wine.
“You remind me of that lady!” he said with a smile.
Ethan scoffed.
Him, similar to Scarlett?
Seeing Ethan’s disbelief, the owner explained.
“That lady sat here alone too. Didn’t say a word, looked upset. I told her our confession
wall’s magic. Write your name and your crush’s, and you’ll be together soon!”
Ethan became curious. “Did she write?”
The owner raised his eyebrows. “Yeah, she did.”
“But she only wrote her own name.”
“She said her crush told her he’d never love her back.”
Something hit Ethan hard in the chest.
A dull pain he couldn’t explain.
For no reason, he felt sorry for Scarlett.
He caught himself and mentally cursed. Was he going crazy?
Early the next morning, Ethan checked out and returned to the city.
Tania wasn’t surprised when he showed up again.
Without a word, she handed him another letter.
Seeing Ethan’s stiff expression, she sighed.
“I just got this letter recently. Didn’t have your number or address, so I had to wait for you

to come back.”
Hearing this, Ethan immediately asked for her contact info.
But as he pulled out his phone, Summer called.
He didn’t notice Tania’s face suddenly turning cold.
He frowned and answered.
“Ethan baby, I’m sick. Can you come keep me company?” Summer pouted.
Ethan seemed to consider it.
“Where are you?”

Summer gave him the address.
After hanging up, Ethan turned back to get Tania’s contact info.
But she had already put her phone away.
This time, she didn’t hide her contempt.
Ir. Brooks, if you’re so busy, why bother looking for Scarlett? Your first love is calling.
Shouldn’t you hurry to the hospital?”
She started closing the door.
Ethan quickly stuck his hand out to block it.
Tania pushed hard, but Ethan didn’t flinch even as the door pinched his hand.
“You haven’t given me your contact info yet.”
Tania looked into his eyes
She took out her phone again and added Ethan.

Chapter 15
After leaving Tania’s place, Ethan drove straight to the hospital.
He wanted to confront Summer face to face.
He needed to know if she really stayed with him after his accident.
Summer had dressed up specially for his visit.
But when he arrived, he didn’t even look at her.
He immediately started questioning her.
She got nervous but covered it with tears.
“Ethan! I can’t believe you don’t trust me! If it wasn’t me, then who? You were blind but you could still hear, right? You said yourself it was my voice. Why would anyone pretend to be me to take care of you? That would be so stupid! That’s ridiculous! Or wait… who are you hoping it was? Scarlett?”
Ethan gave her a complicated look.
“Sorry Summer. I overthought things.”
Summer hid in his arms, her eyes full of triumph.
Some people really were that stupid.
Scarlett could give everything, but Ethan would always belong to her.
