Since Zelda introduced Matthew to her, Rishima and he had not been in contact again.
After severing the bond with Zvomimir, Rishima rarely communicated with anyone on WhatsApp. She mostly texted Zelda, so when sending the good news, she assumed it was to Zelda, forgetting that Matthew’s WhatsApp account had appeared first when she agreed to connect with him.
Rishima was extremely embarrassed. Just as she was about to explain that the message was sent by mistake, Matthew suddenly replied: “Are the two designs you sold called HeartSync and PetalGlow?”
HeartSync was a necklace, and PetalGlow was earrings. The two designs made up a set.
Rishima was stunned: “Mr. Jones, how did you know about this?”
Matthew replied: “Because I bought them.”
For a moment, Rishima didn’t know how to respond. This was truly overwhelming.
Matthew explained: “Last night, my friend and I attended an auction. When I saw HeartSync and PetalGlow, I really liked them and bought them right away. I didn’t expect they were your designs.”
Matthew was the first wolf in three years to express liking for her work.
Previously, after she submitted this design, Daryl had returned it to her the next day. Moreover, he publicly criticized and mocked her design in front of everyone. He said her design lacked soul and aesthetics.
Later, when she was at home, she overheard Daryl complaining to Mrs. Ashcroft: “What does Rishima know about aesthetics? Her designs are a mess, no different from copying works online. I really don’t understand how she won the federal design competition.”
Mrs. Ashcroft consoled him, saying: “Just ignore her.”
Daryl remained dissatisfied: “She pretends to be innocent in front of me, and it disgusts me. Maybe you should tell her not to come to work anymore. Ask her to stay at home and serve Zvonimir, maybe even bear him some wolf pups. Then you and Grandpa will be happy.”
“Her womb was damaged, so she can’t get pregnant. How could I and Old Master be happy about that? Hmph, Richard has been treating her for two months now, and nothing has worked. I feel like she’ll never be able to give the Silverfang pack an heir,”
“That explains it! No wonder lately she works so carelessly, worse than even an intern. If the company didn’t change plans in time, her careless behavior could have caused a huge loss in sales.”
Having been at the Silverfang pack for three years, Rishima had heard these words countless times. Daryl always found ways to insult her. He would occasionally visit Mrs. Ashcroft and speak ill of her.
Now, hearing Matthew praise her work, Rishima couldn’t help but smile, knowing that she wasn’t as bad as Daryl had made her out
to be.
She believed that Matthew truly liked her designs and bought them because of that, not out of pity.
Rishima hadn’t told anyone about selling the two designs. Zelda didn’t know, so Matthew definitely couldn’t have learned it from Zelda.
Furthermore, the privacy of the Mixing auction house was very secure, so it was impossible for them to leak the designer’s personal information. That’s why Rishima believed Matthew genuinely liked her designs.

“Could you tell me why you like these two designs? Rishima couldn’t help but ask.
“These two designs are very beautiful and full of soul. Especially PetalGlow, the pendant design is exquisite. When the design was auctioned, a lady sitting next to me really liked it. She hoped I would give it to her, but I refused. That was impolite and not chivalrous. Perhaps the whole empire is laughing at me.”
Matthew gently explained, his voice clear and warm, his humorous tone making Rishima feel at ease during their conversation.
Flattered by his compliment, Rishima shyly responded, “Mr. Jones, you’re too kind.”
Matthew seemed a little embarrassed. “Please,, don’t be so formal with me. Call me Matthew, no need for Mr. Jones.”
As Rishima and Matthew continued their conversation, she realized He was quite knowledgeable about jewelry. He had even seen the piece she won an award for four years ago, which made Rishima feel both touched and impressed.
When they mentioned the work of a renowned designer, the doorbell suddenly rang. The persistent ringing showed impatience.

Rishima reluctantly put down her phone and went to answer the door.
Standing outside was a female wolf. She was Lisa, one of Zvonimir’s secretaries.
Zvonimir had two secretaries: one was Dante, who held the position equivalent to a vice president at Ashcroft Corporation and primarily assisted Zvonimir with important matters. The other was sa, an Omega female wolf. Zvonimir often assigned her to handle minor tasks, such as chasing away people he didn’t want to meet.
“Mr. Ashcroft sent these for you.” Secretary Lisa walked in, placed several luxury bags on the table, and then cast a sideways glance at Rishima.
Rishima casually glanced at the bags, frowned slightly, and asked, “What’s the meaning of this?”
Lisa smiled, her eyes full of disdain. “Patron buys gifts for his mistress. What do you think he means by this?”
Mistress? Patron?
The insulting words from Lisa clearly had Zvonimir’s influence behind them; otherwise, Lisa wouldn’t have dared to insult Rishima
like this.
Rishima coldly replied, “Take them back. I don’t need them.”
Secretary Lisa patted her on the shoulder, pretending to comfort her. “Rishima, out of respect for the fact that we were high school classmates, I’ll remind you: you need to learn how to bow your head. You think you’re still Mr. Ashcroft’s partner? That’s the past. Now, you’re just his mistress.”
“Get out!” Rishima pointed to the door, her expression cold.
Lisa sneered and started to leave, but halfway through, she turned back and said, “I heard your womb was injured, and that’s why Mr. Ashcroft left you. Maybe I should introduce you to some clinics for treatment? After your womb is healed, you might have a chance to bear pups for Mr. Ashcroft.”
Rishima clenched her fists at Lisa’s malicious smile but forced a smile of her own. “Secretary Lisa, are you also trying to become Zvonimir’s mistress?”
Lisa’s expression immediately changed. Just as she was about to retort, Rishima continued, “Too bad, even if you stood naked in front of him, he wouldn’t spare you a glance. So, you’re not even qualified to be his mistress.”
“You… you…” Secretary Lisa was left speechless by Rishima’s sharp words, her anger boiling over.
“Rishima, don’t get cocky! Just wait!” she snapped.
Rishima smiled faintly. “Take your time, no need to see me off.”
With a loud slam, the apartment door shut, and Rishima immediately lost her smile.
She looked at the bags on the couch, feeling as if they, too, were mocking her for pretending to be strong and composed.
What was Zvonimir thinking? Did he want to turn her into a greedy mistress to humiliate her with money? Did he purposely ask Lisa to bring them here so she’d have the chance to ridicule her? Lisa had called her a mistress, and Zvonimir a patron. Lisa’s every word was reopening her wounds.
Was Zvonimir trying to trample all over her dignity and pain?

Rishima’s face grew pale. She leaned against the wall, struggling to breathe. It took her a long while to calm the pain in her heart, then she threw the bags into the trash.
After 10 p.m., Zvonimir returned to the apartment.
At that moment, Rishima was holding clothes, preparing to take a shower.
“Do you want to do it in the bathroom? Not a bad idea.” Zvonimir smiled, eyeing Rishima with a lecherous look. He thought to himself that Michael’s idea wasn’t bad–just give this slut some gifts and she’d submit.
He hugged Rishima around the waist and led her toward the bathroom, but Rishima pushed him away. “Don’t touch me!”
“I had Lisa buy these things for you. Since you accepted them, why are you still pretending to be proud?” Zvonimir said, his patience running thin. “Alright, just be obedient! Don’t make me punish you
Rishima glanced at him, her gaze icy and mocking. “Your things are over there.
Zvonimir followed her gaze to the trash can, his expression suddeňly changing. He stared at Rishima for a dozen seconds.
Rishima went into the bathroom and slammed the door, cutting off his view.
Zvonimir gritted his teeth, cursing under his breath. Damn it, he wanted to chop Michael’s head off right now!
