Chapter 156 Summer Shows Up
As I listened to him, guilt washed over me again, sharp and unrelenting.
I had to admit. When Summer said those words, I hesitated.
For a moment, I even wondered if Ryan had lied to me–if the man I believed was my husband… wasn’t.
I wrapped my arms around Ryan’s waist, pressing my cheek against his chest, and whispered,
“Never again, I won’t doubt you. From now on, I’ll believe you, okay?”
Ryan responded with a soft hum and leaned down to kiss my cheek.
Then, unexpectedly, he chuckled, his voice filled with teasing confidence. “If I weren’t your husband, would I know your body this well or make you feel the way I do?”
I froze, my face heating with a blush that spread like wildfire.
I glared at him, half mortified, half amused.
“All right, Mr. Hudson, I already know how amazing you are!”
Even now, recalling everything that had just happened, it felt almost unreal.
How could someone make me lose control like that… stir up a wildness in me I hadn’t known before?
Ryan raised an eyebrow, playfully pinched my cheek, and asked, “So… you see it now, don’t you?”
I nodded, my voice steady, “Mm. Summer must’ve deliberately claimed Vincent as my husband to plant seeds of doubt, to pull us apart.”
Ryan’s smile deepened, a mix of pride and satisfaction lighting his face.
“My wife is brilliant.”
I rolled my eyes, but he only pulled me closer, his arm tightening around me, as though he never wanted to let go.
He held me so tightly I could hardly breathe. I gently pushed against him, pretending to pout.
“You’re holding me too tight…”
But Ryan didn’t ease his grip. His voice was low, almost desperate as he murmured,
“Gabby, I’m so scared of losing you.”
My heart clenched painfully at his words. I wrapped my arms around him even more tightly,
whispering, “You won’t lose me. We will be fine. I promise.”
Ryan exhaled a slow breath, kissing my forehead with a tenderness that almost made my heart ache. “Mm, We’ll be just fine.”
After a moment of silence, his hand cupped my cheek. His fingers traced the contour of my face as he spoke in a soft, loving tone.

“I know you want to visit Harborbrook. And I know you want to visit your grandma’s grave, I’ll take you there soon, okay?”
His understanding of me, his care for my feelings, made my chest tighten with emotion.
I nodded quickly, barely able to contain it. “Okay.”
And in that moment, the knot in my heart began to loosen.
Did it really matter what my past relationship with Vincent had been?
Right now, I was happy, right here, in Ryan’s arms. That was enough, wasn’t it?
We should all move forward. I had already lost my memories, that was a truth I couldn’t change. Clinging to the past would only hold me back. It was better to focus on the present… and the future ahead.
I nestled quietly into his embrace. But Ryan didn’t seem to be satisfied with just holding me.
His large hand slowly slid down my back, resting on my waist.
I could feel the hard, undeniable press of his desire against my inner thigh, shifting, intensifying with every breath.
It had always been him leading, him making me feel desired.
Maybe this time, I should take the rein?
Maybe, I could help him, show him what he meant to me. He seemed to be holding himself back, after all.
I bit my lip, about to offer, when-
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The door was knocked hard, urgently.
“Sir, ma’am! Ms. Miller is here. She insists on seeing you immediately and refuses to leave. It seems urgent!”
