When Rachel saw the blood on the walls and the body that had rolled to the corner, she
screamed in terror and ran into Mark’s arms.
After all, my face was just too pale, and I was stuck in a truly grotesque position.
“Don’t be scared, Rachel.” Mark shielded her and said softly, “That’s just a dummy they used for their act. Jane is a witch who bought these people off to take over my family’s business!”
Then, he glared at the butler and Jacob. “I’m going to divorce Jane tomorrow, and her children will never become Frank Corporation’s heirs! As for you two, if you still want to keep your jobs, tell Jane to come here and apologize to Rachel!“.
“She’s right there, right in front of you, and dead! How are we supposed to ‘find‘ her?!” Jacob yelled.
“Jacob, our families are friends, and I don’t want to have a complete fallout with you! If you like Jane that much, I’ll let you have her, but she has to come back and get a divorce first!”
Rachel could no longer hide her delight. “Mark, are you really going to get a divorce with
Jane?”
“Yes! Once I find her, I’ll get a divorce immediately! Rachel, are you ready to become my
bride?”
Rachel shyly hid her face in Mark’s arms and whispered, “I’ve been ready for it a long time.”
Jacob clicked his tongue and did not want to take part in this fiasco anymore.
For the sake of keeping his job, the butler had to keep looking around the attic with Mark in hopes of finding clues to my escape.
I found the entire situation ridiculous and funny.
My corpse was right in front of him. What else was he trying to find?!
Naturally, they found nothing in the attic, but they threw my firstborn into the trashcan like an unwanted toy.
When Mark opened the window that he nailed shut with his own hands, he saw the bloody lock, and he was stunned for a moment before he flew into a rage.
“Did you really want to run away that badly?! Did you really not want to be my wife?!
“Fine! If you’re hiding in the shadows and watching me make a fool of myself, I’ll tell now that I don’t want you anymore! From today, you’re no longer my wife!”

Rachel circled around my body as she trembled and walked to Mark’s side. “Mark, could that really be Jane?”
Taking pity on her, Mark hugged Rachel and said authoritatively, “Don’t be scared, Rachel. This is just Jane’s scheme! We don’t have to wait for her to come out anymore! I’ll get a divorce lawyer right now. Next week, I’ll be announcing our engagement!”
I stared at the shattered Love That Ruined Me.
So, all the love Mark showed me in the past was nothing.
I met him during an exploration on a snowy plain.
The weather had suddenly turned bad and caused our team’s progress to slow down exponentially, especially when it came to Mark. Since he was not an expert, he slowly fell to the rear of the team.
As the leader, I told the others to go ahead while I stayed back to take care of him.
The snow locked down the mountain, and we sought shelter in an abandoned hut. We had neither food nor water.
For three whole days, I used my astounding survival skills and managed to survive with Mark.
He said that he felt he had lived his entire life during those three days, and he fell head over heels in love with me.
I just thought that anyone who received kindness while they were in danger would always think that they were in love with their benefactor.
That was why I rejected his request to date me.
Even so, he persisted for four years.
During those four years, he joined me on countless expeditions.
When we climbed tall mountains, he insisted on coming with me to the summit, even if it meant that he had to use oxygen from an oxygen tank.
When we went to extremely cold places, he fell sick because of the cold and stayed at the campsite. But even if I returned very late, he looked for me.
I fell for it.

His company, especially when I ran into danger, made me think that I would not mind being with him through all the hardships.
Everyone said that I was lucky that the heir of Frank Corporation insisted on marrying me.
That was what I believed as well until Rachel returned.
Mark would immediately leave me behind to keep her company when Rachel called him. It did not matter what time of the day it was.
“Rachel grew up with me. Without me, she can never do anything right.
“Rachel has no one taking care of her and is alone. She has a fever. I’m bringing her here, so take care of her.”
His love was divided, but the portion he gave me gradually dwindled until I could no longer feel it.
Before Rachel returned, Mark was worthy of my love, but after she returned, I became insignificant.
Yet when I asked for a divorce, he refused to let me go!
When he locked me in the attic, I saw only endless ruthlessness in his eyes. “Jane, you better think about this properly. If you insist on a divorce, you can’t take the children away.
“You’re staying here until your delivery date.”
In the end, I died in the attic that was the same size as the hut in the plains.
But this time, the snow was not the one keeping me locked in. It was the door and window that was locked tight by the man who used to love me.
Mark had made me feel proud of my survival skills, but he also ruined me by not letting me use them.
My body reeked in the attic because Mark just ignored it.
To him, the most important thing at the moment was his engagement with Rachel.
