Chapter 5
The door was shoved open.
Since my body was leaning against the door, it rolled to the side from the force, and my baby rolled out of the arms and into the corner.
A thick layer of dust encased my bloody body and made me look like a mummy.
Jacob scowled, but he was a doctor through and through, so he still checked me for any sign.
of life.
As for Mark, he covered his nose because of the smell of blood and stood outside the attic.
He refused to step in.
“What the hell did Jane do?! Why does the room stink so badly?!”
The butler hung his head and did not dare make a sound. He only occasionally stole glances
at Jacob.
“My condolences, Mark,” said Jacob grimly as he removed his gloves.
Mark’s yelling faded abruptly, and he removed his fingers from his nose. “Condolences? For
what?”
He went up to Jacob and stared at him.
Jacob avoided his gaze and pointed at my body. I could not even see my face anymore.
“It was an accident. Your wife died from labor complications.”
Then, he squatted down and used his glove to wipe away the dust on my face.
My pale face and my dusty body formed a stark, tragic contrast. My lower body was still stuck in the position I assumed when I delivered my babies.
I looked grotesque and hilarious.
Mark just shot my body a look before he snickered.
“Jacob, since when did you get together with Jane?” He gave Jacob a cold look. “Are those babies yours? Did she call you to save her after I locked her up? It’s no wonder she tried to jump out of the window and escape that day. You must have planned it together!
“I treated you like a friend, and you slept with my wife!”
Mark grabbed Jacob’s collar and glared at him.

Jacob lost his temper. “You’re the one who locked Jane up and caused her death?! You’re a monster! What you did is murder!”
“Fine! Keep up the act! This is just a misdirection, isn’t it?! You’re using a dummy to lie to me! You must have saved the real Jane a long time ago!”
Jacob’s expression shifted. In the end, he lost his composure and punched Mark in the face.
He did not hold back in the slightest and threw Mark back until he fell beside my body.
My eyes were wide open, and Mark looked me in the eye.
He shot up, but in his panic, he touched a necklace on the floor.
That was the Love That Ruined Me necklace. I had yanked it off with the last bit of my strength before I died.
There was only one such necklace in the world. Mark had bought it for me as a token of love during an auction.
He fell back and crashed into the wall. Then, he saw the gashes that were stained with my blood and bits of my flesh.
But soon, Mark forced himself to calm down.
He glared at Jacob and the butler.
“You’re all working together to lie to me.
“What did Jane promise to give you? Let me guess: she said that she can get the shares belonging to the heirs of Frank Corporation after she gives birth, and she’ll reward you two handsomely, right?”
The butler shook his head. “Mrs. Frank never said that!”
“I fell for her innocent looks over the years and never saw that she’s such a cunning person! To think that you’d all end up being her dogs!
“Ha! I’m telling you this right now. Jane’s plans are all ruined! The children she gave birth to can only become heirs if she remains my wife!”
Right then, Rachel came over. “Mark, did you find Jane… Ahhh! What’s this?!”
