Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Out of nowhere.
Hailey lost her balance and crashed to the ground, looking just as pathetic as I had earlier.
Michael just stood there, staring at me.
I must’ve looked awful.
Cuts and bruises all over, probably even tears from the pain.
Once upon a time, I was the woman everyone in Verona City envied.
“Sarah really lucked out!” they’d say.
Just an ordinary girl who married a billionaire and had her life transformed overnight.
I used to believe I must’ve done something good in my past life to deserve such happiness.
But in just a single day, Michael had dragged me straight from heaven into hell.
Taught me how fickle people could be.
How love could vanish like smoke.
“S–Sarah… your leg… what happened to your leg?”
After what felt like forever, he finally found his voice, taking long strides toward me.
He reached out, like he wanted to help me up.
For a split second, there was something in his eyes–concern, maybe.
If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought it wasn’t him who just hurt me.
I slapped his hand away.
I wasn’t about to fall for his fake kindness now.

Chapter 7
“My leg isn’t the problem,” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
“The problem is Hailey. She doesn’t seem too happy.”
I tilted my head.
“And we both know making Hailey unhappy comes with a price.”
“I’d hate to get on your bad side over something so serious.”
“No, that’s not-” Michael stammered.
“That’s not how it is. Sarah, please, let me explain.”
“Explain what?”
I let out a short laugh.
“Explain how you left me waiting for hours at the mall, and when I was in danger, you were nowhere to be found, but when Hailey needed you, you showed up instantly?”
“Explain how you took my emergency doctor away because of a tiny scratch on her leg?”
“Or should we talk about how I called my husband over and over again, only for him to ignore me and turn off his phone?”
“Maybe you can explain why Hailey felt entitled to my VIP hospital room and private chef?”
Michael’s lips trembled.
“I… I didn’t know, Sarah… I’m sorry, I-”
“Of course, you didn’t.”
I cut him off.
“In that mall collapse, I was just a few steps away from you, but you only cared about Hailey.”
“In the ambulance, I was within arm’s reach, but you only saw Hailey.”
“In this hospital, I was just behind a curtain, but your heart still belonged to Hailey.”

“Let’s face it, Michael–your promises? They died a long time ago.”
I took a deep breath.
“Let’s get a divorce.”
