I stared hard in that direction, my breath hitching as a tall figure emerged from the shadows.
The man wore a black mask, his entire presence radiating an icy, unsettling aura.
Was he the kidnapper?
I tensed, forcing myself to stay calm as I questioned him, “Who are you?” My voice was sharp, demanding answers. “Enough with the games! Just tell me–what do you want?”
He didn’t reply. Instead, he slowly reached into his pocket, pulled two photographs, and held them up for me to see.“These–do they belong to you?” His deep voice carried a hint of amusement.
My eyes widened in shock, and an overwhelming sense of fear engulfed me.
I recognized those faces instantly–Brandon and Toby.
A cold wave of fear crashed over me. My stomach twisted, and I bit my lip, struggling to steady my breathing, “What–what does this mean?”
The man let out a soft chuckle, but his tone sent chills down my spine, “I knew Brandon.”
I felt like I had been struck by lightning.
Was he Brandon’s accomplice? Or worse–the real mastermind behind everything?
“Who the hell are you?” I deman Chapter Unlocked, Enjoy Reading’ere working with Brandon, weren’t you? You were the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes! What do you want from me?”
“If you’re bold enough to do all this, then take off your mask! Or are you too much of a coward to show your real face?”
Still, he didn’t respond. He simply walked forward, each step slow and deliberate, completely unfazed by my anger.
Then, he let out a sigh, his tone laced with mockery, “Brandon–was an idiot. He got caught so easily- and died just as fast.”
His voice was so casual, as if Brandon’s death meant nothing.
My heartbeat quickened in my chest. A crushing sense of dread crept over me.
I didn’t recognize his voice. I had never crossed paths with someone like this. I couldn’t figure out his
motive.
What reason did he have to do this to me?
Then, his fingers slowly traced over Toby’s face in the photograph. His voice turned chilling, “You’re despearte to find this child, aren’t you?”
I sucked in a sharp breath, my pulse skyrocketing. Rage surged through me. I roared, “It was you! You kidnapped my son, didn’t you?!”
The man chuckled but didn’t answer. Instead, he casually tossed the photos into the sea.

“No–no, that’s not possible-“I shook my head wildly, my vision swimming with tear. “What do you mean? Where is Toby?! What did you do to him?”
The man pulled out his phone again and opened a video.
The footage was shaky.
But the image on the screen still made my blood run cold. Toby was tightly restrained on the deck by Brandon, just like I was now, bound so tightly that he couldn’t move!
Brandon’s expression was twisted and ferocious. Without mercy, he gave a sudden push.
“No-! I screamed instinctively.
But I couldn’t change anything.
Straight into the endless, churning sea.
A loud splash.
Ripples spread across the water. Then–nothing.
The video abruptly ended.
A piercing numbness spread through my body. My ears rang, my breath turned shallow.
No, impossible–This isn’t real! Toby–he was shoved into the ocean?
No, he’s so small, he doesn’t even know how to swim–And his hands and feet were tied–how could he possibly survive?
A strangled scream tore from my throat. I thrashed violently, struggling against my restrains, trying to break free, to launch myself at the masked man.
“You monster! I’ll kill you!”
