After spending a few days at Ryan’s villa, my body had gradually
recovered. My memory, though? Still a complete blank.
Little by little, I had slowly come to accept the reality–Ryan and I were
married.
And I had no choice but to face the painful truth–my family was gone.
No matter how much it tore me apart, everything pointed to the same
heartbreaking reality–my grandma, my mom, my sister–they were all
gone.
I had no one left. Just Ryan.
I kept thinking that once Ryan had time, I wanted him to take me to
Harborbrook to visit their graves.
But for now, I still insisted on sleeping in separate rooms.
Even though, over the past few days, I had caught myself drawn to him at times, feeling strange emotions, things whenever he treated
me so gently–I just wasn’t ready to be that close to him yet.
Thankfully, he never pushed. He had always respected my boundaries.
Lately, though, the pregnancy symptoms had hit me harder.

Nausea. Exhaustion. Random cravings–there was no denying it now. I was really carrying a baby. Ryan’s baby.
That morning, I was still curled up in bed when a knock sounded at my
door.
“Gabby, are you awake?”
It was Ryan’s voice.
Rubbing my sleepy eyes, I mumbled, “Yeah, what’s up?”
From the other side of the door, I heard his low chuckle, warm and
teasing, “You’re feeling better now, so I’m taking you out for some
fresh air today.”
I blinked in surprise. Just like that, my mood lifted.
I’d been cooped up in the villa for days–I was going stir–crazy.
I jumped out of bed, quickly freshened up, and headed downstairs for
breakfast.
After eating, Ryan drove me to downtown Bellton.
First stop? A shopping mall. And straight to a phone store.
He handed me a phone, a sleek new model, “Do you like this color and style? You can use it to kill time when you’re bored.”
“It’s nice,” I nodded. Without hesitation, he swiped his card and paid.

Then, he got a brand–new SIM card and inserted it, and personally saved his number and Dr. Eric’s number into my contacts.

“If you need anything, call me. And if you’re not feeling well, call Eric
right away.”
Watching him take care of everything so thoughtfully, I couldn’t help but smile, “You’re really thorough.”
Ryan just laughed softly, “Well, you are my wife.”
My ears burned.
It wasn’t the first time he had said that, but every time he did, my heart
skipped a beat.
After that, the full–blown shopping spree began.
Dresses–one after another, all custom–designed.
Jewelry–entire sets, bought without a second thought.
He barely even blinked at the prices.
I tried stopping him, more than once, but he just brushed me off with a
relaxed smile.
“These are way too expensive. I don’t need all this,” I protested.
But he just shrugged, like it was the most natural thing in the world, “Spending money on my wife? That’s completely normal. And I want
to.”

Ryan was so good to me–so good it left me completely overwhelmed.
He was practically the perfect husband.
Should I be trying to learn how to be a good wife in return?
After buying clothes and jewelry, Ryan took me to shop for handbags.
The moment we stepped into the store, I froze. Row upon row of
Hermès limited editions lined the shelves, so many that my brain
short–circuited for a second. Then, one particular bag caught my eye-
elegant, classic, and utterly breathtaking.
Ryan noticed immediately. He picked it up, turning to me, “Do you like
it? If you do, I’ll buy it.”
I was just about to respond when suddenly, a sweet, playful voice
called out behind us-
“Ry? Ryan!”
I froze for a second, turning toward the voice.
I saw a tall, stylish woman striding toward us, her eyes locked onto
Ryan with an unmistakable familiarity.
Something in my gut twisted–this woman was trouble.
