I gasped sharply, my eyes widening in pure disbelief as I stared at
Ryan.
“What?”
‘I–I’m married?! To Ryan? And I’m pregnant with his child?‘
This revelation was even more shocking than the fact that I had lost
my memory.
The man standing before me had once been the brightest star in our university–the guy every girl dreamed about. Even I had secretly
admired him from afar-
Someone so distant, so unattainable–how did he end up as my
husband?
My head spun, struggling to process what I had just heard.
“Is this real?” I demanded, my voice shaking as I locked eyes with Ryan’s, half expecting him to tell me this was all some kind of sick
joke.
Ryan held my gaze, his expression steady, his eyes filled with warmth. Then, he nodded.
“Yes, Gabby.”
His voice was calm and resolute, carrying with it a quiet strength. Not

a trace of doubt or amusement. And yet, it still felt too surreal–too
impossible.
I pressed my hands against my temples, my brows furrowed, my
heartbeat erratic.
“I–I need a moment-” My voice wavered. “This is too much, too fast-
I just―”
Sensing my distress, Ryan reached out and gently rubbed the back of
my head, his touch soothing, like he was calming a frightened kitten.
“It’s okay. Take your time,” he said softly. “You just woke up. Your
memory is still fragile–it’s normal to feel overwhelmed.”
He paused, then added, “But don’t worry. I’ll do everything I can to help
you remember. There’s no rush.”
I stared at him, my emotions tangled in a confusion.
He was–kind. Gentle. Patient.
Being married to someone like him–someone so perfect–shouldn’t that make me happy?
Yet, for some reason, an uneasy weight pressed down on my chest.
Ryan must have noticed because his voice softened even more.
“Gabby, don’t be scared. No matter what happens, I’m here. If you need space, I understand.”

Ryan was always like this, thoughtful, considerate, always giving me space when I needed it.
He stood up, offering me a reassuring smile, “I’ll step out for now. If
you need anything, just call me.”
I nodded numbly, watching as he quietly left the room.
The door clicked shut behind him.
Now, I was alone.
I sat frozen on the bed, my thoughts a tangled whirlwind.
Ryan’s words echoed in my head over and over.
This is real. This is my life.
I bit my lip and slowly lowered my gaze to my stomach.
“There’s really a baby in here?”
Almost unconsciously, I placed a shaky hand over my abdomen.
It felt the same–flat, unchanged. But just knowing the thought that a tiny life might be growing inside me made my heart pound wildly
against my ribs.
I took a deep breath, but the uncertainty refused to fade. I needed
answers. I had to find the doctor and hear it from him myself.

Without hesitation, I climbed out of bed and walked to the door.
My hand hovered over the doorknob for a brief second before I pushed it open, determined to get the truth.
The door swung open.
Standing there was a young woman I didn’t recognize. She wore a neatly pressed maid’s uniform, her posture poised and composed.
The moment she saw me, she gave a slight bow and spoke in a
respectful tone.
“Mrs. Hudson, you’re awake.”
I froze.
“Mrs. Hudson?” I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.
‘Did she just call me Mrs. Hudson?‘
The name felt foreign–like it didn’t belong to me. As if someone had
slapped a stranger’s identity onto me.
But the girl’s expression was serious, devoid of any mischief.
I swallowed hard, trying to steady myself before speaking, “Who are
you?”
She offered a polite smile, “Mr. Hudson asked me to take care of you,
ma’am. My name is Nina.”

Her voice was soft, reassuring.
“Mrs. Hudson, is there anything you need?”
The title still felt strange, but I forced myself to stay calm.

“Nina, can you call the doctor who examined me earlier?” I asked, keep
my voice as steady as possible.
She blinked briefly, then nodded, “You mean Dr. Eric Lawson?”
I nodded. “Yes, I need to see him.”
She didn’t ask any questions. With a small bow, she said, “Of course,
ma’am. Please rest in your room. I’ll bring Dr. Lawson right away.”
I stepped back inside, my thoughts spinning.
Less than ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door, and Dr.
Lawson entered.
I wasted no time. “Dr. Lawson, am I really pregnant?”
Eric met my gaze, his voice calm and steady. “Yes. You’re a little over
two months along.”
Even though Ryan had already told me, hearing it directly from the
doctor made my heart jolt violently in my chest.
This wasn’t a dream. This was real.
I slowly placed a hand over my abdomen, my emotions knotted tight.

Eric nodded and offered a gentle warning, “Your body has been
through a serious shock. Emotional distress could affect the baby’s
development. You need to take it easy and focus on resting.”
I barely heard him. My mind was spinning.
In my memory, I was just a college student.
And now, I had woken up to a husband–Ryan Hudson–and a baby
growing inside me.
The more I thought about it, the more overwhelming it became. I
swallowed hard. My voice grew urgent.
“Dr. Lawson, do you know how I lost my memory? When will I get it
back?”
