I frowned, trying to piece things together, but my thoughts were a tangled mess–like a thick fog had settled over my memories, blurring everything into a haze.
“Are you okay, Gabby?” Ryan’s voice rang out again, and the moment I heard him speak, something clicked–like I had grabbed onto a
fragment of a lost memory.
Ryan? Ryan Hudson?
It hit me all at once
He had been the star of our university–the senior everyone admired, the guy who lived rent–free in the daydreams of half the female
student body.
But we had barely interacted. To me, Ryan Hudson was someone to admire from a distance–untouchable, out of reach, living in a world
far above mine.
So–why was I here? And why did he sound like we were close?
My head was spinning, but I needed answers.
Taking a deep breath, I finally said, “Come in.”
The door slowly swung open, and a tall, striking figure stepped inside.

I stared at him–at his sharp, chiseled features and the cool intensity
in his gaze. My heart skipped a beat.
How could someone be this good–looking? No wonder so many girls
had fallen for him.
“Feeling any better?” Ryan stopped at the edge of the bed, his voice deep and smooth.
I nodded, then shook my head.
He raised an eyebrow, a flicker of amusement in his expression, “And
what exactly does that mean?”
I hesitated, lowering my gaze, before admitting, “I don’t know what’s
going on–I can’t remember anything. Why am I here?”
Ryan’s expression shifted. He froze for a second, his sharp gaze locking onto me. When he spoke again, his tone became softer, “You
don’t remember anything?”
I met his eyes, utterly lost, “Shouldn’t I be in class right now? Why am I here? And why does it feel like–we know each other?”
Ryan’s entire demeanor changed.
“Class? School?” He repeated my words slowly, like he was trying to
process something.
I hesitated. ‘Did I say something wrong?‘
He was my senior at Harborbrook University–we both studied there.

Before I could react, he suddenly reached out and gently pressed the
back of his hand to my forehead, as if checking my temperature.
“-Hold on.” His expression darkened slightly. Without another word,
he turned and called for a doctor.
The doctor arrived quickly and led me to an examination room, where they ran a series of tests–scans, X–rays, and more advanced
screenings.
The whole time, an unease gnawed at me. The doctor’s serious expression didn’t help. If anything, it made me even more nervous.
‘What was wrong with me?‘
When the tests were over, the doctor told me to go back and rest–but instead of explaining the results, he pulled Ryan aside and spoke to
him privately.
I watched them leave, suspicion creeping in.
‘Why couldn’t they tell me? Why keep it a secret?‘
Taking a deep breath, I tried to shake off the growing sense of dread. ‘Was my condition–serious? Or were they hiding something from me?‘
Anxious, I instinctively reached for my phone, wanting to call my
family.
But–it was gone.
My phone was missing.

After a while, Ryan finally returned.
The moment he stepped inside, I lifted my head, watching him closely. His expression remained unreadable–calm, steady, with those deep-
set eyes that gave nothing away.
“What did the doctor say?” I asked anxiously.
He hesitated before answering, his voice slow and measured, “The doctor said you suffered a head injury. It affected part of your
memory.”
I stared at him, stunned.
That explained the throbbing pain in my head.
I tried again to recall something–anything–but my mind was blank. The harder I pushed myself, the worse the pain became.
“Will my memory come back?” I asked quietly, dread curling in my
chest.
Ryan’s gaze flickered before he responded, “The doctor said it might come back–or it might not. It depends on your condition.”
I nodded absently, feeling lost.
‘What if I never remembered? What if those missing pieces were gone

Ryan studied me carefully, then after a brief pause, his voice took on a
subtle, probing edge.
“Gabby–what do you still remember?”
I closed my eyes, forcing myself to focus. Slowly, I said, “I remember my family–and you—”
Before I could finish, his expression darkened.
His entire demeanor shifted. He abruptly cut me off, his voice dropping an octave, “Do you remember Vincent Hudson?”
