Chapter 102 Gabby Is Nowhere To Be Found
After what felt like an eternity, the exam room door finally swung
open, and Claire was wheeled out.
The doctor removed his mask, his voice calm and steady, “Mr.
Hudson, Ms. May is fine. She was just emotionally distressed, but
there’s nothing physically wrong.”

“What about the baby?” I demanded, my heart pounding as I clenched
my fists.
The doctor hesitated for a split second before answering, “The baby is
safe. But Ms. May needs to rest–no stress, no emotional strain. If
anything seems off, bring her back immediately.”
A wave of relief crashed over me. At least the baby was safe.
Wasting no time, I pulled out my phone and dialed my assistant, Luke.
“Luke, come to the hospital right now.” I ordered. “Take Claire home
and make sure she rests.”
Luke responded instantly, his voice firm, “Yes, Mr. Hudson. I’m on my
way,”
As soon as I hung up, I turned to leave–but before I could take a step,
Claire sat up, her tear–filled eyes locking onto mine.
She reached out, gripping my arm like a lifeline, “Vince, I’m scared-
Please stay with me. Don’t go, okay?”

I inhaled sharply, closing my eyes for a moment, forcing down the
frustration burning inside me.
I knew she was afraid. After everything that had happened today, how
could she not be?
But Gabby-
I steeled myself and pushed my arm free, my voice cold as ice, “Gabby’s life is on the line. Can’t you see what’s more important right
now?”
Claire went pale, her lips trembling as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks. Her hands slipped from my arm, her expression shattered.
But I didn’t hesitate. I left her there, waiting for Luke, and walked
straight out of the hospital.

On the way to the shore, I kept calling Ryan.
Once. Twice. Three times.
No answer.
Every passing second felt like a knife twisting deeper into my chest.
Then–finally–the call connected.
“Did you find Gabby?” I nearly shouted, desperation clawing at my
throat.

Ryan’s voice was heavy, “No.”

My grip tightened around the steering wheel, “That’s impossible! Ryan,
you always find a way–please, keep looking! She has to be out there!
She has to be alive!”
But no matter how many times I begged, how many times I demanded
an answer-
His response never changed.
“No.”
“We couldn’t find Gabrielle.”
My world shattered instantly.
Tears blurred my vision as I slammed my foot on the gas, racing
toward the ocean as if sheer speed could turn back time.
No!
No, this can’t be happening!
Gabby isn’t dead!
I refuse to accept it!

I charged onto the beach like a madman, the icy sea breeze cutting through me like a blade.

Ryan was still in the water, desperately searching for any sign of
Gabby. His face was grim, his eyes bloodshot, his entire body
teetering on the edge of collapse.
He had even called in a professional rescue team. They were scouring
every inch of the ocean.
Panic gripped me. Without a second thought, I dove into the water,
joining him.
But from daylight to deep into the night, we found nothing.
Not a single trace of Gabby.
‘Had she really been swallowed by the sea?‘
I couldn’t accept it. A gaping hole tore open in my chest, the agony
almost unbearable.
Collapsing onto the shore, I screamed, raw and broken.
“Gabby! Gabby!!!”
If she was really gone–how the hell was I supposed to live with that?
At some point, Ryan had made his way back to the shore too. Without
warning, he grabbed my collar and yanked me up.
Before I could react, his fist slammed into my face. The impact sent
me stumbling backward, sand crunching under me as the sharp,
metallic taste of blood filled my mouth.

Dazed, I looked up at him.

His eyes burned red, filled with rage—and something even darker.
“What’s the point of crying now?” Ryan roared. “You always put Claire
first–what right do you have to stand here and grieve?”
The words hit harder than the punch.
I felt nothing. Not the pain. Not the cold. Not even the fear.
I didn’t fight back. Instead, I looked him dead in the eye, my voice
barely above a whisper.
“Do you–do you know who took Gabby and Claire?”
Ryan took a deep, ragged breath, his fists clenched so tight his
knuckles went white.
“If I’d known,” he said, his voice sharp as a blade, “I never would’ve let
this happen. Now tell me everything you know.”
