Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Louie had not returned home for the weekend, claiming he was busy handling the adoption procedures for Jenna.
This conveniently gave Celia the time she needed.
During these two days, Thalia kept sending messages.
Sometimes it was a blurry photo of a man and woman in an intimate pose, other times it was a disturbing, explicit video. Sometimes, it was a voice message full of smugness.
“Celia, what does it matter if Louie keeps saying he loves you? He still falls at my feet with just a snap of my finger.”
“I heard you’re throwing a welcome party for Jenna? I wonder if I can come? After all, my relationship with her is… quite special.”
Celia ignored these blatant provocations and simply saved all of them.
Louie planned to surprise her, so she should return the favor with a gift of her own.
Since she was going to throw a welcome party for Jenna, she was determined to make it grand.
Celia sent invitations to Louie’s close friends, major business clients, and distant relatives of the
Morris family.
Of course, Thalia also received one.
At first, Louie disagreed with her attending, but after she repeatedly promised not to provoke Celia,
so Louie relented.
“Has the lawyer contacted you? Let’s go handle the divorce paperwork first thing Monday.”
Thalia’s heart skipped a beat, her mind full of reluctance.
While Louie was out handling business, Thalia secretly ran to the orphanage.
“Jenna, do you want to stay with mommy and daddy forever?”

Jenna’s eyes widened. “Of course I do!”
But then she lowered her head, looking disappointed. “But daddy said we have to keep it a secret. If Aunt Flores finds out, I won’t be able to go home.”
Thalia’s eyes sparkled as she leaned closer to Jenna’s ear and whisper something.
Jenna nodded thoughtfully, “I’ll do exactly as you say, mommy.”
In the past, Thalia hadn’t fought for the title of Mrs. Morris because Louie’s career was still not as successful as her other suitors. She had better options.
But after what had happened abroad… she returned to the country was all about to claim back her place as Mrs. Morris.
On the evening of the weekend, Celia used the bedroom telescope one last time to gaze at the starry
sky.
The blue star had already started to dim.
At exactly midnight, the star shone brilliantly, tracing a perfect arc before finally disappearing into the vast universe.
Louie still hadn’t returned, just called to inquire about the welcome party tomorrow.
Celia looked at the grandly decorated reception hall. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you’ll never forget this day.”
Meanwhile, she had already booked a flight back to New York early the next morning.
She remembered Matthew’s words: “Whoever doesn’t go is a little dog.”
She didn’t sleep a wink that night, and the east began to brighten.
Celia pushed her luggage out of the villa, where a business car was already waiting outside.
She put on her sunglasses. “Goodbye, my ridiculous past.”
Louie woke from his sleep, with Thalia lying beside him.
He had a nightmare where he and Celia were watching the stars together.

But the next moment, the sky turned completely dark, and Cella disappeared.
In his dream, he panicked, sweating profusely, searching everywhere.
“Celia!”
Thalia groggily opened her eyes and complained, “Louie, you woke me up.”
A bad premonition began to rise in Louie’s chest.
He pushed Thalia aside and hastily threw on some clothes.
On the way, he called the family lawyer. “Once the County Clerk’s Office opens, we’re going to register the marriage right away. No delays.”
The lawyer reassured him, and Louie felt a slight sense of relief.
At the traffic light, a black business car pulled up beside his.
He glanced at his phone, which was still showing his conversation with Celia from yesterday: “I’ll make sure you’ll never forget this.”
