Chapter 20
For the past five years, Matthew had kept himself pure.
He remained indifferent to the countless women who threw themselves at him, and his family and friends even suspected his sexual orientation.
His grandfather had hinted several times, “It doesn’t matter whether your future wife is a man or a woman, just bring her home.”
He had tried to move on, to approach other women, but every time it came to the crucial moment, he couldn’t.
The confused and pained looks from those women hurt him.
Matthew even went to see a doctor.
“Mr. Curtis, you don’t have any physiological issues, but I suggest you see a psychologist.”
To avoid embarrassment, he chose chastity.
He thought that this would be his life, alone forever.
Until he received Celia’s call again.
Staring at the familiar number on his phone, his breath almost stopped.
He stood up, supporting himself against the wall, taking deep breaths before tremblingly answering the phone.
His voice was shaky but controlled, “Miss Flores, what an honor to receive your call.”
Celia didn’t respond to his sarcasm.
“Matthew, is our engagement still valid?”
Matthew suppressed the wild beating of his heart, “But you’re a married woman now.”
Celia patiently asked again, “Is the engagement still valid?”

Matthew stumbled over his words, “Miss Flores, are you suggesting we have an affair?”
Celia hung up the phone, and Matthew regretted it immediately.
He had his secretary investigate Celia’s recent life and soon discovered that Louie, that jerk, had deceived her.
Matthew immediately redialed the phone, “Yes, it’s still valid, forever valid.”
There was a brief pause on the other end, and they agreed to get their marriage certificate next Monday.
Matthew, afraid she might back out, quickly added, “The one who doesn’t show up is a little dog.”
Celia replied with a single word, “Childish.”
Matthew turned to his secretary, “Am I childish?”
For the first time, the secretary, who had only seen Matthew make decisive moves in business, was left stunned.
“Yes… quite childish.”
Matthew regretted adding that last line. He kept asking:
“Do you think she’ll despise me childish? Should I call her to explain?”
“What should I say to salvage my image in her mind?”
“Why don’t you say something? I pay you such a high salary, and you still can’t understand a girl’s feelings?”
His secretary stared blankly at the “crazy” CEO and couldn’t help but feel speechless.
Suddenly, the secretary appeared by the floor–to–ceiling window, “Mr. Curtis, Louie asked the
assistant to get a wedding invitation for you and Celia.”
Matthew snuffed out his cigarette, exhaling smoke.
“Give it to him. Give him whatever he wants.”

“And before the wedding, acquire the Morris Group.”
The secretary nodded respectfully, “It’s already in progress. By tomorrow evening at the latest, Morris Group will no longer exist.”
Since he was going to teach Louie a lesson for Celia, he was going to make sure it was thorough.
Grandfather had taught him, “Cut off the source, and the enemy will never rise again.”
Matthew was never a soft–hearted person.
The reflection of his face in the floor–to–ceiling window showed a ruthless expression.
“What are you doing?”
Celia walked over, wrapped in a blanket, and Matthew immediately put on a gentle expression.
He walked over and hugged her, nuzzling his head against her shoulder.
Celia tousled his hair, “Why do you act like a puppy?”
The secretary beside them caught their breath.
Who in this world would dare say that Matthew acted like a dog?
Courting death?
But the next second, Matthew’s reaction left the secretary, who had experienced all sorts of big scenes, utterly astonished.
Matthew nuzzled again and made a “woof woof” sound.
The secretary, with a face full of disdain, left and closed the door.
“Tsk tsk, the mighty CEO is actually a love–struck fool!”
