Chapter 41 Uncle Ryan Treats Gabrielle Differently
That dream was so vivid that just thinking about it made my cheeks burn and my knees weak.
I must be losing it!
Seeing Ryan now just made everything so awkward.
“What nonsense are you talking, kid?” Henry suddenly shot Ryan a

glare, but his eyes were full of affection? “Aren’t you happy, your whole family came to pick you up?”
“Of course I am.” Ryan smiled, then glanced at me. “But this is a bit
much.”
He pointed at the lilies in my hands, “Gabrielle, are these for me?”
“Yes,” I nodded, handing him the bouquet. “Congrats on your
discharge. Stay healthy, and no more accidents.”
“Thanks, they’re beautiful. I love them,” Ryan smiled, taking the flowers. “But I should be the one wishing you no more accidents.”
I forced a smile. True, there had been way too many incidents lately. I
just hoped things would settle down from now on. I was wishing well
for both of us.
“Grandpa brought flowers too, but Uncle Ryan doesn’t seem as excited
about those,” Vincent suddenly sneered. “Looks like he has a special
preference for Gabrielle’s flowers.”

His words were loaded with implications, making everyone’s
expression change.
“I appreciate Father’s flowers too,” Ryan gave him a cold look.
“Vincent, if you can’t say anything useful, keep quiet.”
“Exactly! This boy’s always talking nonsense,” Henry smacked
Vincent’s head. “We’re all family – Ryan values Gabby’s flowers the
same as mine.”
Vincent’s face turned pale, but he stayed silent.
“Ryan, we were going to pick you up from your room. Why’d you come
out by yourself?” Henry started chatting with Ryan.
“I was worried you’d block the whole hospital,” Ryan said, glancing at
the row of luxury cars. “Didn’t want to cause a scene.”
“Alright, alright, let’s go then,” Henry beamed. “I’ve booked a private room at the Harborbrook Grand Hotel. Let’s have a family meal to celebrate Ryan’s discharge. There’s been so much going on lately–we all need to relax.” With Henry’s word, no one objected. So, the group
headed to Harborbrook Grand Hotel.

The atmosphere in the private dining room was relatively pleasant.
“I heard the shooter is dead?” Henry suddenly asked.
“He committed suicide,” Vincent replied.

I didn’t believe the shooter had killed himself, but this wasn’t the place
to discuss it.
“That bastard got off too easy! How dare he hurt Gabby and get Ryan injured–dying like that was too good for him!” Henry slammed the
table, his voice dark.
“Dad, let’s not talk about this today,” Daniel stepped, trying to lighten
the mood, raising his wine glass. “To celebrate Ryan’s discharge, I
brought two bottles of Romanée–Conti. Come, let’s have a family
toast.”
“Since when is Gabrielle family?” Rachel rolled her eyes at me. “She
won’t be for much longer.”
I hadn’t realized she disliked me this much–always looking for a fight.
But since I was pregnant, even though I planned to terminate it, I shouldn’t drink anyway, so I said, “You all go ahead, I can’t drink right
now.”
“What’s wrong?” Henry shot Rachel a warning look, then turned to me
with concern.
As I was thinking of an excuse, a wave of nausea hit, and I started dry
heaving.
Suddenly, all eyes were on me.
“Gabrielle’s symptoms–they look like pregnancy signs-”
