I had to admit, he’d always been so good to me. Growing up, I’d been
ignored by my family, so it was easy to be moved by such kindness.
But no matter how good he was to me, I couldn’t force myself to stay
in this marriage just for that.
“Grandpa, I’ve made up my mind. I’m sorry,” I said, shaking my head
with a sad smile.
“Kid, you and Vincent have been married for so many years, and you had Toby together. Are you sure you won’t regret divorcing him?”
Henry sighed, his voice heavy with concern. “I care for you a lot. When
Vincent was planning to marry Claire, I knew right away she wasn’t right for him. I fought against it. But you, Gabby, you’re a good person. I knew you were meant to be his wife.”
He paused, then added softly, “I know Toby’s disappearance has cast a shadow over the whole family. I also can’t eat or sleep properly,
always thinking about him.” Henry’s voice cracked as he mentioned
Toby, tears streaming down his face.
“Dad, please don’t get so upset,” Rachel interrupted, handing him a tissue. “Maybe Toby just wasn’t meant to be part of our family. After the divorce, Vincent can find someone else, someone you approve of, and have kids with her.”

I couldn’t believe Rachel would say something so heartless!
Toby was her grandson, for heaven’s sake!

During all this, only Vincent and Ryan had been actively searching for Toby, while Henry was constantly worried. But Daniel and Rachel?
They barely seemed to care, not even asking about him.
Toby had called them Grandpa and Grandma for years were their
hearts made of stone?
“Shut your mouth!” Henry suddenly snapped, throwing the tissue Rachel had handed him onto the floor. “How dare you say something
like that?”
He took a deep breath and, with unwavering conviction, declared, “Let
me make this clear today–Toby is a Hudson and he’s my chosen heir
to the Hudson Enterprises. As long as I’m alive, I’ll keep searching for
him! I will never accept any children Vincent might have with other
women.”
He turned to me, his voice soft but firm, “Moreover, I only recognize
Gabrielle as my daughter–in–law. She’s the only one I approve of.”
Henry’s words hit me like a wave, moving me deeply.
After Grandma Josephine passed away, I thought I’d never experience such love again. But Grandpa had reminded me what it meant to be a family…
“Dad, you’ve been too stubborn!” Rachel glared at me. “Does Gabrielle

even appreciate this? She’s still insisting on divorce! Why are you fighting for her? Our Vincent is incredible–there are so many rich girls
out there who would love to marry him!”
“Enough! Are you trying to make me angry to death?” Henry’s face
turned bright red, and he broke into a violent coughing fit, “cough
cough cough-”
“Grandpa, please, calm down!” I quickly patted his back, trying to help him breathe. “No matter what happens between Vincent and me, you’ll
always be my grandfather in my heart.”
I meant every word of it.
Rachel opened her mouth to argue again, but before she could, Ryan,
who had been silent up until now, spoke up, “Rachel, if you’re here to
cause trouble, you can leave.” He gave her a sharp look, his voice cold
and intimidating.
Rachel seemed a little scared of him. With a snort, she backed down.
But she wasn’t done–she turned her anger on me, “You’re bad luck!
The family’s never been peaceful with you around,” she spat.
I just rolled my lips, unable to respond.
“Get out of here! Why are you attacking Gabby?” Henry snapped,
frowning as he scolded her.
“Go home. You’re not welcome here,” Ryan added, his tone as cold as
ice.
Rachel shot me one last furious glare, then stormed out, her pride clearly wounded.
Once she was gone, Henry softened, speaking gently, “Gabby, would
you please reconsider the divorce with Vincent?”
At the same time, Ryan turned to me, “Gabby, come here. I need to talk
to you.”
