The Forbidden Uncle
Chapter 11 I’ve Decided To Divorce Him
This question had been weighing on my mind–what made him risk his life to save me?
Ironically, my own husband, Vincent, didn’t even try to save me!
The first person he protected was my sister.
“What do you think the reason is?” Ryan asked, looking at me with a teasing smile, answering my question with another question.
“Uh-“I was caught off guard. “Honestly, I have no idea.*
‘Could it be just because I’m Vincent’s wife? But Vincent and Ryan are just uncle and nephew, and they’re not even that close.‘
Ryan smiled–and, honestly, he looked really handsome when he smiled.
After a moment of silence, he said, “My father cares a lot about Toby. I didn’t want Toby to grow up without a mother. Besides, my father likes you a lot. He’d be heartbroken if anything happened to you.”
“Huh?” I was stunned.
This reason–it sort of made sense.
Something still felt off, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
“Grandpa is indeed good to me, but you’re his son. Wouldn’t he be even more devastated if something happened to you?” I said, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
“But I’m fine now, right?” Ryan raised an eyebrow, giving me a gentle smile.
I was speechless.
Well, maybe that’s really all there was to it.
I remembered when Ryan texted me about helping find Toby.
I couldn’t understand his reason back then, but now, maybe it was all about caring for Toby and
Hudson family.
It probably had nothing to do with me, right?
The thought suddenly hit me, and my heart skipped a beat.
I took a deep breath, trying to push the thought out of my mind.
“I’m fine now, so don’t feel pressured,” Ryan said, pushing himself up in the hospital bed slowly.
“Careful!” I watched his pale, handsome face, worried that his movement might tear open his wound.
Ryan waved it off, signaling he was okay.
“Uncle Ryan, you saved my life, and I owe you. If you ever need anything from me, just say the word- I’ll do whatever it takes to help!” I promised, trying to sound firm.
Though privately, I wasn’t so sure. After all, what could someone like Ryan–who had everything- possibly need from me?

This debt of life felt heavy, and I really had no idea how I could ever repay it.
“Alright,” Ryan nodded, “I’ll remember that.”
His response was reassuring, at least a little.
After a moment of silence, he suddenly asked, “How’s your grandmother?”
At the mention of my grandmother, my heart tightened with grief, and tears immediately welled up in
my eyes.
“I–I don’t have a grandmother anymore,” I sobbed.
Ryan paused, then awkwardly pulled out some tissues and handed them to me, “Don’t be sad. Your grandmother would want you to be happy.”
I nodded, wiping my tears messily.
Another silence fell between us.
After I calmed down, I absentmindedly touched my belly.
It was a blessing in all this misfortune that I could still keep the baby. For the baby’s sake, I needed to keep my emotions in check.
It was such a shame that grandmother passed away without knowing I was pregnant again.
I hadn’t decided if I should tell Vincent about the baby yet, so I hadn’t told anyone.
But with Vincent and me heading for a divorce, what should I do about this baby?
While I was lost in these chaotic thoughts, Ryan casually asked, “Have you thought about what I men tioned last time?”
“What thing?” I hadn’t caught on yet.
“About divorcing Vincent? Have you made up your mind? I can help you.” His voice was calm, but his words somehow gave me a sense of strength.
That’s when I realized he was serious about helping me–it wasn’t just talk.
Looking into his eyes, I said firmly, word by word, “I’ve made up my mind! I want to divorce him.”
