The Alpha’s Possession 25
Zelda stumbled against the door from his push, her arm tingling with pain. Furious, she was about to retort, but hearing him ask for Rishima, her anger cooled and was replaced with a sense of triumph
You’re looking for my Rishima? Too late! Keep dreaming.
Zelda sank into the sofa, leisurely grabbed an apple, and crunched into it noisily as she watched Zvonimir search the apartment.
She wanted to see the look of frustration on Zvonimir’s face when he couldn’t find the female he had tormented.
Zvonimir was indeed angry. He searched the living room, the bedroom, the kitchen, the balcony–even the bathroom–but didn’t find a single strand of Rishima’s hair.
“Where is she?” Zvonimir demanded coldly, his voice sharp.
“Who?” Zelda asked innocently, her tone light.
I’m asking you, where is Rishima?” Zvonimir leaned into his Alpha authority, grabbing Zelda’s arm and ‘lifting her off the sofa. “Don’t think that just because you’re her friend, I won’t hurt you!”
Damn it, that hurts!
Zelda felt like her arm was about to snap. But despite the pain, she refused to back down. She sneered, “Of course you’d dare! Mr. Ashcroft, you’re the kind of wolf who’d hit your former mate right after breaking your bond. Why wouldn’t I believe you’d hit me?”
Ignoring her sarcasm, Zvonimir warned, “My patience has limits. I’ll count to three. If you don’t tell me where Rishima is, don’t expect to live peacefully in the empire! One, two…”
“So you did force Rishima to leave!” Zelda shouted, enraged by his threats. She even had the urge to punch him.
But just as she raised her hand-
“Ah!”
Zvonimir caught her wrist and twisted her arm behind her back.
The pain turned Zelda’s face pale.
“You’re saying I forced Rishima to leave?” Zvonimir narrowed his eyes. Thinking back to Rishima’s resignation, something dawned on him. “Where exactly is Rishima?”
‘I don’t know!” Zelda clutched her aching arm, sweat dripping down her forehead, glaring at him with fury.
Zvonimir sneered. “Looks like you don’t care about keeping your arm
Zelda wanted to kill this wolf, but she suddenly grinned through clenched teeth. “Rishima’s found herself a new mate.”
A new mate?
Zvonimir’s expression darkened. “Where?”
“I don’t know!” Zelda rolled her eyes at him.

The next second, she was flung to the floor by Zvonimir.
Having run out of patience, Zvonimir stomped on her shoulder viciously, his expression cruel. “Do you know now?”
Humiliated, Zelda lay face down on the floor, her face pressed against the cold tiles, her features contorted.
Zvonimir!
I may not be able to fight you, but I can mess with you!
“H–State.” Zelda struggled to speak. “Rishima said her lover is in H–State. She left for the airport this morning and said she’s never coming back to the empire.”
“What else?”
“That’s all I know. She never shares personal matters.”
That much was true.
Rishima rarely discussed her private life with anyone. Even after years together, Zvonimir only knew that she had lived with distant relatives as a child.
Zvonimir stepped back and left, pulling out his phone to call his secretary. “Book me the earliest flight to H–State.”
As soon as Zvonimir left, Zelda climbed off the floor, shut the door, and laughed mockingly.
Go ahead and run to H–State, you bastard. Even if you turn it upside down, you won’t find Rishima.
Zelda glanced at the clock. Rishima had left over an hour ago and was probably at the airport by now. Even if Zvonimir rushed there, he wouldn’t catch her.
On her way to the hospital to treat her dislocated arm, Zelda texted Rishima everything that had happened, focusing on cursing Zvonimir to her heart’s content.
Rishima didn’t read the message.
Zelda guessed that she might already be on the plane and smiled at the thought. Imaginin
nothing made her laugh out loud, startling the taxi driver into thinking she was crazy.
But Zelda never expected that Rishima would be delayed at the airport.
konimir arriving in H–State and finding
Normally, it would take only an hour to get from the apartment to the airport. However, a traffic accident en route caused a massive jam, making Rishima anxious.
Her flight was at 3 p.m., and it was already past 2 p.m. With no end to the jam in sight, she worried about missing her flight.
Rishima didn’t check her phone, keeping her eyes fixed ahead.
Fortunately, after a few minutes, traffic began to clear.
She exhaled in relief and finally noticed Zelda’s messages, as well as several missed calls—all from Zvonimir.
Just as she suspected, Zvonimir held a grudge and would come after her for what happened at the mate–bonding party.

Rishima smiled wryly. Was there any wolf more miserable and humiliated than her? After being abandoned by her mate, not only was she not freed, but the Silverfang Pack had also forced her out of the empire.
When she bonded with Zvonimir, she had been so proud. Now, she was nothing but a disgrace. Thankfully, she had cut her losses in time. Though she still loved him, she would never beg him to take her back.
She wasn’t that pathetic.
Feeling both grateful and guilty that Zelda had borne the brunt of Zvonimir’s wrath, Rishima repeatedly apologized, “I’m so sorry for dragging you into this,”
“Why are you apologizing? It’s not your fault. It’s that bastard Zvonimir! Ugh, if only I had stopped you from bonding with him back then.”
Back then, not only had Zelda failed to stop her, but she had even thought Zvonimir was a good wolf who would make Rishima happy. Turns out, he was just a scumbag who discarded the old for the new!
“Let’s not talk about the past. It’s over now.” Rishima didn’t want to dwell on her history with Zvonimir:
“Wait! You’re not on the plane yet?” Zelda asked.
“Not yet. There was a traffic jam, so I’m still on my way to the airport.”
“Damn it! This is bad! I overheard Zvonimir telling his secretary to book the earliest flight possible. What if you run into him at the airport?”
