Alexander was sitting across the table. He was startled by Nolan’s expression and immediately asked, “Nolan, what’s wrong?” After saying so, he turned to look in the direction where Amelia had gone, feeling pretty puzzled himself.
“But anyhow, Amelia’s acting pretty weird as well. I don’t understand why she’s suddenly tryna get close to Dylan. I remember she used to say she couldn’t stand him. And doesn’t he already have a kid? He…”
Hearing that, Nolan looked surprised. “Wait, who told you that?”
Alexander scratched his head and answered, “Amelia said it herself.”
Nolan couldn’t believe his ears. He was puzzled. He wondered when she had said that.
Alexander went on, “It’s pretty strange. Why is she so interested in him all of a sudden? She used to go to such great lengths to avoid seeing him. I asked her about it once. She said he was way too scary.”
Nolan’s tone suddenly turned calm. “Maybe Amelia really did lose her memories.”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Alexander pressed his lips together. After a moment, he grew anxious.
“She did say she lost her memory, but hasn’t she been caught many times for faking it? We all thought that she was pulling the same stunt again. But if she really did lose her memory, it’d make sense why she’s changed so much.”
Then something occurred to him, and he got up to chase after her. “If that’s so, we can’t let her get too close to Dylan. If her memories return, she’ll most definitely be devastated. You know what she’s like. Nolan, what should we do?”
Only now was Nolan certain that Amelia had truly lost her memories. Immediately, a glimmer of hope sparked in him. It was only because she’d forgotten that she didn’t love him anymore. If she could get her memories back, she’d go back to her old self.
Then she’d stay by his side and look at him with eyes full of admiration. His heart started pounding. His hands slowly clenched into a fist.

“Just one look from him and I’ll have nightmares for days!” Just the thought of it made Alexander shiver. “Nolan! Nolan!” He could only count on Nolan. But he also knew that Nolan was about to marry Milly, so he shouldn’t be getting involved in Amelia’s affairs.
But Nolan said, “I’ll get her memories back. I’m sure you don’t want her to keep treating you so coldly, right? Haven’t you noticed she doesn’t seem to care about anyone anymore?”

Alexander jumped up as if someone had stepped on his foot. He exclaimed, “I didn’t know that she’d actually lost her memories back then! If she were still the Amelia I remembered, she’d never treat me like that.

He continued, “She’d cook for me and talk to me gently. Sure, she’d get mad at me sometimes. But she’d be nice to me again if I managed to calm her down.” He felt more resentful as he said that.
Nolan seized the opportunity. “Then you’ve gotta help me get her memories back. Let’s get the old Amelia back.”

As Amelia sat in the car, she felt extreme discomfort. It was because of the icy tension radiating from Dylan. She knew he was a workaholic. She knew he wouldn’t tolerate mistakes from his employees, but she thought that hers wasn’t worth getting that angry.
She hesitated for a while before finally saying, “Mr. Hale, I’m aware that I was a few minutes late. If you wish to dock my pay, please do. So please stop being angry.”
As soon as she finished, Dylan looked up and gave her a deep stare. “Blockhead,” he said.
Amelia quickly apologized, “Yes, you’re right. I’m a blockhead. Anyhow, please stop being mad, Mr. Hale. You can just dock my pay.”
Dylan looked hesitant, as if he had wanted to say something else. But in the end, he lowered his head to focus on the files on his lap. His hands were clenched. Amelia felt like he had gotten even angrier than before. The situation remained throughout their ride to the hotel.
After exiting the car, she hurried to push his wheelchair, only to run into Alexander at the hotel entrance. He was also there to discuss business that night. When he saw her, he stopped in his tracks. He called out, “Amelia?”
Amelia frowned. She wondered why she kept running into the Summers family everywhere she went. She didn’t want to respond, but Alexander walked over anyway. He wasn’t young anymore, but surprisingly, he was able to keep his composure in front of Dylan,
The only thing was that he was overly polite. “Mr. Hale, it’s been a while.”
Dylan glanced at him and gave a brief nod.
Alexander patted Amelia on the arm. “I’m glad Amelia’s working at your company. Mr. Hale, I know you’re a man of great character. You don’t judge someone for their past. Instead, you focus on what abilities they have.” Alexander’s voice was full of approval.
He continued, “I’m certain that Amelia’s gonna make great progress working with you. And because of that, I’d like to express my gratitude to you in advance.”
