Chapter 134 How Things Turned Out
– Finished
Alexander panicked. Then he
Sprang up from his seat, saying, “Did you think I wanted things to turn out like this? I just want everyone to be safe. Milly’s having mental health issues, so why can’t you help her a little?
The more Alexander spoke, the more agitated he became. He blurted out whatever came to his mind. And do you seriously not feel guilty at all? She wouldn’t have been kidnapped back then if it hadn’t been for you!”
“Don’t you remember the days before Milly was kidnapped? As a kid, you had a frail body and were always getting ill. Besides the doctor, no one else could visit you, not even me. It was she who snuck in to see you. It was she who brought you food.”
As he spoke, his eyes instantly teared up. “We were so close to each other back then. I really can’t comprehend how everything turned out to be like this.”
Amelia sat across from him. She watched as his tears fell one after another onto the table. She felt pain shoot through her chest. She stared at the cup on the table in silence.
But then Nolan, who was sitting beside her, finally spoke. “When did Milly start seeing a therapist?” Just yesterday, he’d still been full of anger toward Milly. Obviously, he had been somewhat convinced by what Alexander had said.
Alexander sat back down. And after having calmed himself down, he said, “After returning to the Summers family. Mom said her foster parents abused her while she was growing up.”
Normally, anyone who made a mistake would be forgiven if they were suffering from serious mental health issues.
Nolan glanced at Amelia hesitantly. Then he said, “Amelia, I know you’ve been wrongly accused. I promise I’ll never do the same to you again. I’ve thought hard about Milly and I these past few days. You’re my fiancée, yet I fell in love with her behind your back.
“It’s my fault. So as long as you admit it, I’ll tell everyone that our engagement’s off. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways.”
It was evident that up until then, an official announcement hadn’t been made to everyone about their broken engagement. That meant that their engagement was still set. Plus, everyone in their social circle had always been harsh on women.
That was why Amelia would always be seen as the pitiful girl who was dumped before she even got married, even though Nolan and Milly’s wedding was already being arranged..
She gazed into his eyes, but he didn’t dare meet hers. Then she turned to Alexander, who also avoided her gaze. Amelia tapped lightly on the coffee cup and gave a faint smile. “Alright.”
She took out her phone and posted/something online. She had a lot of followers, but since she’d lost her memory, she didn’t remember any of them.
The post read, “I fabricated the video that was circulating online. In an instant, the post drew a bunch of comments, but she couldn’t be bothered to read them. She simply handed her phone to Nolan. Nolan pressed his lips together, and his fingers were trembling slightly.
In an instant, memories of his time with Amelia came flooding back. She had truly cared for him. She had made soup for him during winter. And she hadn’t uttered a single word of complaint, even if she’d burnt

herself doing so.
She’d also stay by his side when he was drunk, looking at him with her starry eyes. And now, all of that was
gone.
Nolan took a deep breath and made a post as well.
“Milly and I will be getting married at the end of the month. My engagement to Amelia was called off long ago. I’ve said many unfair things about her in public before, and I sincerely apologize for doing so.
“I was the one who got into a relationship with someone else. I was the one who broke off the engagement that had been set ages ago. I let her down. And for the sake of saving face, I kept saying bad things about her. I was wrong. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways.”
His post caught a larger amount of attention. Amelia read it and felt quite satisfied that he had managed to say something decent for once. She stood up to leave, but Nolan suddenly called out, “Amelia. He called her name and, out of nowhere, pulled her into a hug.
Amelia froze as she had caught a glimpse of Dylan passing by the huge window. She wasn’t sure if he’d seen her, but somehow she felt uncomfortable. But before she could push Nolan away, he’d already let go of her. “Amelia, I’m sorry for everything with Milly.”
But Amelia’s attention was already on Dylan, who was getting further away. She was anxious and in no mood to listen to Nolan’s nonsense. She hurried out to chase after him.
Several executives were by Dylan’s side. They were probably the people he’d be having dinner with later. Amelia caught up to him and reached out to push his wheelchair, but Nathan stopped her. He said, “Ms. Summers, please stand aside.”
sorry, She glanced at Dylan and noticed that he was frowning. It was evident that he was displeased. “I’m Mr. Hale. I had something going on and ended up a few minutes late.” She assumed he was upset about her tardiness. So she immediately apologized for it.
But he remained silent. He wasn’t in a good mood.
What Amelia wasn’t aware of was that Nolan’s face had darkened the moment he saw her rush out to chase after Dylan. And his gaze had never left her.
