Chapter 117 A Father’s Blindness
Amelia felt a familiar tightness in her chest, though she couldn’t help but find the whole situation unters ridiculous.
“Mr. Summers, once I leave this place, I expect you to make it absolutely clear to everyone that I, Amelia, am no longer connected to the Summers family in any way.”
James’s face instantly darkened, his features stern and unyielding.
“You’re still as stubborn as ever. Even now, you refuse to admit any fault!”
He frowned deeply and sighed heavily.
“Amelia, I honestly don’t understand how you turned out this way. Fine. Once Milly’s wedding is over. I’ll bring you to the villa outside the city. The environment there is far better than this place. But since your actions led to her miscarriage, you have to face some consequences.”
Amelia’s only response was the rigid line of her back.
After James got into his car, he rubbed his brow, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. Both women were dear to him, but with Milly having lost her baby, he couldn’t simply let the matter go unaddressed.
Someone beside him began to offer advice.
“Sir, please don’t let this weigh on you. Let Mrs. Summers handle the family affairs.”
James was usually quiet at home. Though he often sided with the others in criticizing Amelia, he had never resented her enough to have her committed.
But now, as he met the unfamiliar expression in Amelia’s eyes, an uneasy feeling stirred within him.
“You’re right. Let Celia handle it.”
“Mrs. Summers will take care of everything.” Besides, you personally checked the hospital room. Ms. Amelia won’t be bullied there.”
Though James had a full schedule today, he still felt uneasy and made his way to the hospital personally. Celia was the one who had chosen this facility, but he couldn’t shake off his worries.
Deep down, he knew his wife had always shown more affection toward Milly, while Amelia often went overlooked.
But in any household, when the older child rebels and the younger one remains compliant, favoritism seems almost inevitable.
What he hadn’t noticed until now was that the daughter who once gazed up at him with bright, trusting eyes was long gone.
He turned to the person beside him and asked, “After all these years of siding with Milly, do you think I was wrong?”
“This isn’t on you. Ms. Amelia has done plenty wrong, and Ms. Milly has endured a lot because of her. As the elder sister, Amelia should’ve protected her, but instead, she’s constantly mistreated her.”

“Yeah, I just wonder when that child will finally learn to behave.”
He shook his head, deciding to put it out of his mind. He’d deal with it later.
Once Amelia was admitted to the psychiatric hospital, the director escorted her to a spacious room and locked her inside.
“Amelia, you’ll be staying here for a while.”
She surveyed her surroundings. The environment wasn’t bad, surprisingly. With her phone taken by the family’s bodyguard and likely given to James, she had no way to contact anyone.
She was on the verge of drifting off when the quiet creak of a door reached her ears.
“Amelia, darling, I’m here.”
Amelia’s eyes snapped open. Felix was standing in the bathroom doorway, and he’d been hiding there the whole time.
Her expression instantly shifted.
“What are you doing here?”
Felix’s face was contorted with lecherous satisfaction.
“What do you think? Your mother specifically asked me to stay with you, of course! She’s always so thoughtful, isn’t she? Don’t you find the scent in here a little strange? It’s her special wedding gift to us!”
She had noticed it but dismissed it as disinfectant.
Felix moved forward slowly. He rubbed his hands together, eager and excited.
“Heh, I’ve already taken the antidote. The air’s filled with a sedative, by the time you wake up, everything will be over. Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle and I’ll make sure you enjoy every second of it.”
Felix, who had long harbored twisted desires for her and still bore a grudge from before, finally had his chance with no one around to stop him.
Amelia managed to evade his initial advance, but the drug was rapidly sapping her strength.
Desperately, she seized a chair and hurled it at the window. The glass shattered with a sharp crash.
Without a moment’s pause, she crouched, grabbed a shard, and drove it into her own thigh. Blood gushed forth immediately.
Felix, startled by her ruthless self–harm, blurted, “Damn! Are you crazy?”
He started to move closer, but Amelia picked up another shard, pressing it to her own neck this time.
“Don’t come any closer!”
Felix froze, his face contorted in a grimace.
Amelia swallowed, her expression cold and composed as she locked eyes with him.
“Felix, do you really want to be responsible for someone’s death?”

Felix grew frantic, practically pacing in frustration. A stunning woman was right in front of him, yet he couldn’t lay a hand on her. It was driving him insane
“Amelia, don’t be reckless! You think you’re too good for me? Sleeping with me once or twice won’t kill you. We’re getting married anyway! I’ll treat you better than anyone else ever could! Damn it, don’t tell me you’re still hung up on Nolan. You belong to me!”
He cursed under his breath, inching closer.
But Amelia pressed herself firmly against the wall, the shard cutting deeper into her skin as blood slowly dripped down. Felix was horrified as he had never seen her like this before.
