The truck driver had been a last–minute hire. With his broad build and a scar slicing down one side of his mouth, he looked naturally menacing.
At that moment, he rubbed his short–cropped hair. “I don’t know why he got so spooked.
Amelia couldn’t help but laugh, glancing in the direction Damien had fled. She suspected he wouldn’t be getting much sleep that night.
And as expected, Damien spent the entire night wide awake, tossing and turning.
By morning, heavy shadows hung under his eyes. He was so absent–minded on his way to the hospital that he nearly lost his bearings.
Barely had he settled at his desk when Milly appeared once more.
Her face carried the same air of arrogance, and the way she looked at him made it clear she saw him as nothing more than a nuisance.
“Didn’t I tell you to quit your job immediately?”
Damien staggered back a few steps, his lips trembling in fear.
“Ms. Summers, I had no choice. Don’t burn your bridges! This is a lawful society.”
હું ociety.”
A flash of irritation crossed Milly’s face. He was talking far too much.
“Dr. Dawson, you’ve already taken the money. It’s far too late for regrets. You know very well you can’t afford the consequences of defying me. Do exactly as you’re told or else.”
The warning was unmistakable.
After she left, Damien slumped into his chair, his face drenched in sweat.
He was terrified someone might attempt to run him down again tonight. Would he be as fortunate as he was the night before?
He couldn’t afford to die. Survival was all that mattered.
Just then, the voice from last night echoed once again. It was Amelia.
She stood at the entrance to Milly’s hospital room.
The moment Milly spotted her, her face contorted with rage. “Amelia!”
Weren’t the Summers family’s bodyguards searching for her? How had she managed to walk in so easily?
Her eyes quickly reddened, and the rage melted away, replaced by a pitiful vulnerability.
“Amelia, I already begged Mom not to send you to the psychiatrie hospital. Why did you have to come here just to mock me? I’ve already lost my child! Isn’t that enough?”
“Amelia, I already pleaded with Mom not to have you sent to the psychiatric ward. Why did you have to show up here just to rub salt in my wounds? I’ve already lost my baby. Isn’t that enough?”
Chapter 113 Breaking Point
Amelia glanced over her shoulder and, as she expected, spotted Cella and Nolan approaching.
Celia marched up furiously, raising her hand to strike, but Amelia caught her wrist before it landed
“Ms. Yoon, do you always feel the need to hit me whenever we cross paths?”
Celia’s body shook with anger. “How dare you even show your face here, Amelia?”
Releasing her grip, Amelia replied coolly, “I’ve done nothing wrong. My conscience is clean. Why should f hide?”
Celia let out a cold laugh. “A clean conscience? Have you heard what people say about you? They call you ruthless, heartless, a walking disaster!”
Just as the words left her lips, a crisp hundred–dollar bill slapped her across the face.
Amelia gave a cold smile.
“If you despise me that much, here’s a hundred. Make sure to use protection the next time you sleep with James, just like you did before.”
Celia’s eyes widened in shock. Consumed by rage, she blacked out immediately.
The blow of Amelia’s words was so sharp that even the passersby froze in shock.
Several nurses rushed over to steady Celia and helped her into one of the rooms.
Amelia lowered her lashes, expression indifferent, and turned to leave.
But Nolan stepped in, blocking her path. “Is that how you speak to your mother?”
She looked up at him, her innocent eyes now shimmering with tears.
“What more can I do? Nolan, I’m really wondering. Would you truly accept having a child out of wedlock?”
She bowed her head, quietly wiping away the tears.
“You might have had your fling with Milly, but you’re still my fiancé in name. I can’t believe you’d be foolish enough to let a woman you barely get along with carry your child.”
Nolan had intended to reprimand her, yet when he noticed the redness around her eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to speak harshly.
Amelia was never one to show vulnerability around him. She was always quick to snap.
But now, she seemed so delicate, as if she were silently pleading for his support.
“Amelia… what exactly are you trying to say?”
back.
“Can’t you see? Milly was never actually pregnant. It was all a setup. Yet no one in the Summers family or in Solandis believes me. I came here to make that crystal clear. If you want to commit me to a psychiatric ward, then go ahead. I won’t fight it anymore.”
Amelia shifted her approach. With someone like Nolan, direct confrontation only made him more resistant, becoming even more stubborn and suspicious.

But showing vulnerability? That would trigger his protective instincts.
She chose this moment, right outside Damien’s office, knowing he could hear everything.

If Damien hoped to change the course of events, he needed an ally and Nolan was exactly the person to provide that support.
Nolan extended his hand gently toward Amelia, as if to offer reassurance. At that moment, Milly emerged from the hospital room.
