Amelia really needed someone to talk to.

“Milly framed me. She lost her child and blamed me for pushing her. Now my mother wants to have me committed to a psychiatric hospital.”
After speaking, she leaned back slightly, a trace of uncertainty flickering in her gaze.
Though she couldn’t remember everything, her heart wasn’t made of stone. The very thought stirred a dull ache deep inside her.
Dylan extended his hand toward her.
His fist was clenched, and even the pale half–moons beneath his nails looked immaculate.
For a brief moment, her mind drifted. How could someone appear so perfect in every detail? As she lingered on that thought, his hand slowly unfurled, revealing a single piece of candy resting in his palm.
Dylan’s cold expression made the gesture almost amusing.
Amelia’s gloomy mood lifted in an instant. She took the candy, a small smile curving her lips.
“I’m not a kid anymore, you know.”
Her fingertips brushed lightly against Dylan’s palm, which felt warm and slightly moist.
Dylan, ever reserved, cast her a brief glance before turning his eyes away.
She unwrapped the candy and slipped it into her mouth. The sweetness spread across her tongue, bringing a surprising sense of comfort.
Her phone kept buzzing. It was either Celia or James. And no doubt, Milly was calling just to add insult to injury.
She let the calls go unanswered until the car came to a halt in front of Palm Bay.
Returning here again, in such a sorry state, she couldn’t help but feel deeply embarras
Following Dylan into the hallway, Amelia spotted Jonathan waiting there.
He sat with his legs crossed, head slightly inclined. As soon as he heard the approaching wheelchair, he immediately got to his feet.
His shirt hung loosely, a few buttons undone, exposing the marks on his neck which were undeniably left by
a woman.
He’d said last night that he was going to find someone and cheat. Apparently, he had followed through. Jonathan’s smile faded the instant he saw Amelia.
But then he remembered that he was the one who had asked her to be Dylan’s sleeping aid. So, he merely sneered coldly.
Amelia stayed silent. What could she possibly say to someone who had once wished for her death?

Dylan stepped into the elevator, and she followed close behind.
She couldn’t help but feel a tinge of satisfaction that Dylan chose to ignore Jonathan.

Jonathan realized he was being snubbed. Pressing his lips together, he turned and took a seat on the sofa in the lobby, silently waiting for Dylan to come downstairs.
Meanwhile, Dylan headed up to the second floor and pushed open the door to his bedroom.
Amelia followed close behind, the hems of her pants still dripping with water.
He gestured toward the bathroom, his voice steady. “There are fresh towels inside.” Remaining in his wheelchair, he didn’t spare the bathroom a glance.
Without a second thought, Amelia entered and shut the door, cager for a much–needed shower.
It wasn’t until she noticed the neatly arranged men’s toiletries on the counter that it hit her.
Palm Bay Villa was massive. There had to be guest rooms.
So why had Dylan brought her into his own?
Someone as meticulous as him surely cared about hygiene, especially when it came to personal items.
But now that she was already in the bathroom, it felt too awkward to say anything.
She switched on the shower, letting the steaming water wash over her and ease some of the tension from her body.
Yet, aware that this was Dylan’s bathroom, she didn’t dare stay too long. After about ten minutes, she stepped out and wrapped herself securely in a towel.
It was only then that she realized she had nothing to wear underneath. She couldn’t just walk out like this.
Gripping the towel tightly, she stood frozen for what seemed like an eternity, unable to summon the courage to open the door.
Then Dylan’s voice came from outside.
“Why aren’t you coming out?”
The water had been off for a while, yet she still stood frozen by the door.
After a long pause, she finally cracked the door open.
“Mr. Hale, where will I be sleeping tonight?”
Her cheeks were tinged with color from the steam, and a soft mist lingered in her eyes. Though she had towel–dried her hair, it remained slightly damp.
Dylan didn’t dare look at her directly. He stole a quick glance before quickly looking away.
Amelia thought he hadn’t heard her the first time, so she repeated the question.
“Where am I sleeping?”

Clutching her towel, Amelia wanted to ask why not the guest room, but she didn’t dare.
Perhaps Dylan truly wanted her to stay close, to serve as his sleep remedy once again.
If that was his wish, she had no reason to turn him down. Especially since he was offering her his help now. With nothing beneath, she sat awkwardly
- the large sofa.
Quickly, she pulled the blanket up around her, finally gaining a small sense of security.
Dylan rose from his wheelchair, grabbed a set of pajamas nearby, and disappeared into the bathroom.
The sound of running water echoed softly, and Amelia was struck by a strange feeling of disbelief.
How had she ended up alone with Dylan again?
Just the two of them, a man and a woman, sharing a room. If anyone found out, the rumors would be endless and her reputation completely destroyed.
Yet, when it came to Dylan, she couldn’t bring herself to resist.
She curled up tightly under the blanket, her thoughts drifting. It was hard not to notice how long Dylan had been in the bathroom.
She had seen him shower before. Men were usually quick. But tonight, he’d been inside for over an hour. The delay was enough to make her wonder if something might have happened to him.
