Chapter 276
At this point, the more she said, the worse things would become.
Seeing that she had finally stopped talking, Richard tugged at her sleeve, “Come back with me. We need to talk.” His tone left no room for argument.
“For the next few days, let the professional caregivers look after Henry,” he added firmly. “None of you should come here!”
Noticing her husband’s anger, Catherine immediately became submissive.
She exchanged a meaningful glance with Isabella, intending for her to take a step back. However, Isabella interpreted this as a signal to forge ahead.
With Henry sick and vulnerable, she could prove herself by caring for him and soothing his emotions. Then he would surely return to her side.
With this plan in mind, she completely ignored Catherine’s warning glance.
She took small, delicate steps toward Henry’s bed, her eyes brimming with tears as she watched the nurse remove the bloodied bandage and begin redressing his wound.
Her tears fell freely, appearing so genuinely distressed that even the nurse seemed moved by her display, handling Henry’s arm with extra gentleness.
The wound had reopened and needed to be cleaned and disinfected again. Without anesthesia, Henry closed his eyes in agony, gritting his teeth against the pain. Still, he managed to growl at Isabella through clenched teeth:
“Get out!”
“You’re not needed here!” The words emerged as a roar, fueled by his pain. Combined with his contorted expression, the effect was truly intimidating.
Isabella stared at his reddened eyes, her own tears flowing even faster. “Henry, I just want to take care of you. Is that really so wrong?”
If she missed this perfect opportunity, she feared she would never find her way back into Henry’s life. She couldn’t give up–no matter what Henry said, she refused to leave.
SO
Henry was drenched in cold sweat from the pain, his uninjured left arm gripping the bed tightly that the veins on the back of his hand bulged alarmingly, as if ready to burst through his skin. He glared at Isabella with pure contempt.

“GET. OUT!” His handsome face contorted with rage, his voice unnaturally calm. ‘Security! Take this woman away! Lock her in the old estate!®
That he hadn’t resorted to profanity was already showing remarkable restraint.
Isabella had repeatedly pushed past his boundaries, finally igniting his fury. With that handsome face, he spoke the cruelest words, his eyes completely devoid of any warmth or affection.
Isabella collapsed to the floor in shock. She couldn’t believe what she’d just heard. With tear–filled eyes, she made one last desperate appeal: “Henry, I only want to take care of you. What’s so wrong with that?”
Richard found Isabella’s constant crying irritating and waved at the security guards who had rushed in. “Please escort Miss Scott out.”
His son was ill, and what patients needed most was rest. Isabella not only failed to maintain a calm environment but was actively creating distress.
Looking at her temperament, Richard couldn’t understand how she had ever become his son’s first love. If it had been him, he would have ended the relationship long ago, certainly not letting it drag
on for all these years.
The security guards gave Isabella no chance to protest. Two of them flanked her on either side, physically removing her from the room. Soon, her sobbing could be heard from the corridor, gradually fading until it disappeared completely.
Richard glanced at Catherine, who seemed unusually distracted. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
Ever since Isabella had been escorted out, Catherine’s gaze had remained fixed on the door, showing a level of concern she rarely displayed even for Grace–her own daughter.
Richard found her excessive concern for Isabella increasingly suspicious.
Catherine, realizing her slip, quickly composed herself and hurried to Richard’s side. “Richard, don’t you think we’re being too harsh on Isabella?” Her voice was carefully modulated. “No matter what, she’s just a young woman–Henry’s first love, his ideal. What if they reconcile someday? Won’t she resent you?”
Richard frowned, increasingly troubled by her strange behavior. “What makes you so certain they’ll get back together? What makes you think Henry and Sophia will divorce?” His eyes narrowed suspiciously. “Or is that what you want to happen?”
