“What are you waiting for?” she chided. “Hurry up and say something to Milly! And you have to prepare the wedding dress and the ring on your own–make them as grand as possible. This is your first child, after all.”
Nolan opened his mouth, but the words couldn’t seem to come out.
But every time he was with Milly, he was always careful. How could she possibly get pregnant.?
Only now did he realize that what hit him earlier wasn’t surprise–but shock.
Milly’s eyes reddened. “Nolan, what’s wrong? If you don’t want this baby, I can get rid of it.”
Nolan quickly pulled Milly into his arms, but in the next instant, he couldn’t quite believe the words that came out of his mouth.
“Milly, I’ll protect you and our child.”
Satisfied, Milly smiled, pride gleaming in her eyes.
“Alright, Nolan,” she said. “Then I guess my sister will soon become your aunt.”
Nolan’s hand froze, confusion clouding his gaze.
The Summers family and Jessica were moving fast.
While Amelia was still recovering at home, she received a call from Lily.
“Amelia, are you really marrying Felix?”
Amelia froze, her brows knitting together.
“Who told you that?”
“Felix got drunk at Nocturne today and told everyone you’re his wife. He even said the Summers family has acknowledged it, and your wedding is at the end of the month. There were others there too, all saying they’d received notice from your family.”
Amelia’s heart sank.
She pulled out her phone and dialled Nolan’s number, but he didn’t answer.
A sense of dread crept into her heart. She called Alexander instead, and he picked up.
“Amelia, didn’t Felix say he’d pick you up to try on wedding dresses?” he asked, sounding cheerful. “Mrs. Sally went to book the hotel today, You’re about to get married–aren’t you coming back? I saw the dresses delivered at noon, and I thought you’d already tried them on.”
So everyone knew she was about to get married–everyone except her.
Amelia couldn’t believe how absurd this was. She took a deep breath, but even after hanging up, the suffocating feeling in her chest didn’t go away.
Not a single person had asked her opinion since the beginning. It was as if they could just tie her up and

Pulling out the file Dylan had given her, she carefully read through everyone’s information, her gaze finally landing on Jessica’s name.
She couldn’t just sit there like a sitting duck. Since they were all so eager to humiliate her, she’d make the ringleader–Jessica–taste her own medicine first.
Amelia immediately thought of Sharon. She’d met Sharon once–this woman was insatiably greedy, and probably already resented Jessica for marrying into wealth.
A woman’s jealousy could be deadly.
Amelia had Sharon’s number in her phone. So after work, she went to find her.
When Sharon got Amelia’s call, she was delighted.
Every time Amelia contacted her, it meant she’d at least bring in a few tens of thousands of dollars. To her, Amelia was nothing but a walking ATM.
Although she was still bitter about the handbag incident last time, she figured Nolan must have already spoken to Amelia. She figured Amelia must’ve come to apologize this time.
She wouldn’t ask for much this time–600,000 dollars would do. After all, this amount meant nothing to a rich woman like Amelia.
The more Sharon thought about it, the more excited she became. She didn’t even want to finish her poker game and began packing her things to leave.
But her friends weren’t having it.
“Sharon, you’re leaving? You still owe each of us 10,000 dollars, remember? Time to pay up!”
“It’s only 10,000! What’s the rush?” Sharon snapped, disdain flickering in her eyes.
She brandished the bracelet on her wrist at them and continued, “This bracelet alone is worth 200,000 dollars–I just can’t bear to sell–it. But I’ll have 600,000 dollars coming in soon, and you’ll get your money back in no time.”
The other three women looked at her with contempt. If it weren’t for the fact that Sharon had a cash cow by her side, they wouldn’t bother spending time with her at all.
Still unmarried at her age, Sharon had long been the subject of gossip. The moment she caught the scorn in their eyes, a wave of humiliation washed over her.
“10,000 dollars is barely enough to pay for one of my meals,” she boasted. “Just wait, I’ll be back soon.
“I’m not like the rest of you, stuck at home with a useless husband.”
Their friendship was superficial at best, and her words instantly set them off.
“What’s that supposed to mean, Sharon?” One of them hissed. “You think you’re better than us just because you’re single? It’s only because no one wants you. If you had your sister’s skills, you’d have married rich ages ago.”

“Exactly. Your sister’s a socialite, while you’re just a lazy, cheap ass woman with no real job. You don’t even know what my husband says about you–fat and ugly, not even worthy to be my slave. Time to face reality!”
Men were Sharon’s sore spot. She had once been attractive, but her absurdly high standards had led her to turn everyone down.
