Chapter 81 Unspoken Tension
Just when Amella thought it was over, Dylan suddenly reached out for her ankle. He gently lifted by le and placed it on his knee.
“Mr. Halel” she gasped, visibly startled.
Snapping back to her senses, she gripped the armrest of her seat.
Dylan lowered his head and said nothing. He gently touched her ankle and asked. “Does it hurts
More than the pain, what unsettled her was their current position–she never imagined she’d have her leg resting on Dylan Hale’s.
“Mr. Hale, please put my leg down,” she urged. “I’ll just treat it when I get home later.
Dylan bent over and rummaged through the nearby first aid kit. Then he took out a tube of ointment.
“Bear with it.”
The next second, he squeezed some of the ointment into his palm and gently massaged it onto her ankle.
It didn’t really hurt, but Amelia’s cheeks flushed uncontrollably. She didn’t dare look at him and quickly shifted her gaze elsewhere.
Unease washed over her, especially since she still hadn’t made sense of what exactly had happened the last time she was changing clothes.
Of course, she didn’t dare assume that Dylan liked her. After all, his leg wasn’t as bad as the rumors claimed. He was a man at the pinnacle of the upper crust, and she, with her tarnished reputation, was from a completely different world.
Lost in thought, she didn’t snap out of it until he set her foot down. The swelling had eased quite a bit, and her back was covered in sweat.
At that moment, the car came to a stop–right in front of her apartment.
Opening the car door, Nathan simply gestured for her to get out without looking at her.
Amelia quickly got out. After contemplating for a while, she turned back to Dylan and said, “Thank you, Mr. Hale.”
Dylan was wiping his palm with a wet tissue, his movements unhurried and elegant. His fingers, of course, were exceptionally attractive–yet just now, he had been massaging her ankle with them.
He didn’t even glance at her and merely hummed in acknowledgement.
Even though he’d just done something so intimate, his response now was rather distant.
The car door closed in an instant.
Amelia stood still and watched the car fade into the distance, slightly unsettled by Dylan’s unpredictable attitude. She took a deep breath and headed toward her apartment, only to spot Lily standing under a nearby, arms full of gifts.
“Lily?”

Lily had been hiding behind the tree, wringing her hands and looking embarrassed when he discovered.
Amelia, I just went upstairs and knocked, but you weren’t home. I was just about to leave
Amelia couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but Lily seemed a little off.
“Did you come to see me?”
“Yeah, I work at Nocturne,” Lily replied. “All the staff were given corporate gift cards, so I thought I could buy some food and bring it to you.”
She was the first person who helped Amelia ever since her memory loss, after all.
Amelia smiled and urged, “Come on, let’s go up together.”
Lily’s gaze lingered on the car disappearing in the distance before she caught up to Amelia. Walking quickly at her side, she asked, “Was the person who dropped you off earlier Nolan’s uncle?”
“Yeah, do you know him?”
“I’ve worked at Nocturne for three years. Back when Mr. Hale’s leg was still fine, I saw him a couple of times.
With a face like Dylan’s, he was impossible to forget once someone had seen him.
“Amelia, are you really planning to go after him?” Lily asked. “I’ve noticed you haven’t mentioned Nolan lately. Have you moved on?”
As they entered the apartment, Amelia took the things from Lily and replied, “Going after Mr. Hale was just a joke. But now that I work at Hale Corporation, I can’t exactly avoid him.
“As for Nolan, let’s not talk about him. I’must’ve been blind before.”
The color drained from Lily’s face.
“Amelia, is your leg hurt?” she asked, her fingers/trembling slightly as she tried to change the subject. “You should rest. I’ll make something to eat.”
“Sure. Thank you, Lily.”
But Lily seemed distracted. When she picked up the bags, she even spilled some of the snacks.
Just as Amelia was about to bend down and help, Lily quickly crouched and said hastily, “Leave it to me. You should go rest.”
A twinge of confusion pricked at Amelia, but she said nothing.
Meanwhile, Jessica and the others–still unable to locate Amelia–were furious.
Not expecting his prize to slip away at the last moment, Felix slapped the bodyguard hard across the face and bellowed, “You useless piece of shit! You can’t even find a woman! Who was in that car! What w license plate?”
The bodyguard, feeling wronged, quickly reported the plate number and described the car in detail. He even mentioned a barely noticeable little flag on its front.

Hearing this, Nolan flew into a fit of rage.
“That’s impossible!”
In all of Solandis, only one car had a little flag on the front–and it belonged to his uncle. But his uncle hadn’t been here in years,
Back then, his uncle’s legs had been injured because of Amelia. He probably hated her more than anyone. Why would he ever come to pick her up?
