Chapter 79 The Price of Indifference
Felix looked up and saw Nolan standing there.
Nolan’s expression was unreadable. “Felix, what do you mean by that?”
Felix patted him on the shoulder. “You don’t even like Amelia, right? Didn’t you tell me and Timothy before? Just let us have our fun.”
That had been drunken nonsense back then–Nolan never imagined Felix would actually take it seriously.
Nolan clenched his fists. No matter how much he disliked Amelia, it wasn’t up to someone like Felix to touch her.
But Felix leaned in and whispered, “Nolan, I’m not actually going to do anything to her. If you want to play the hero, just show up in an hour. I’ll give you the chance. Don’t you think Amelia has been a little too cold to you lately?”
Nolan’s face, which had been flushed with anger, suddenly fell silent at those words.
It was true–Amelia’s behavior today had caught him completely off guard, especially when she threw that glass of wine at Jessica. It left him feeling uneasy.
He lowered his gaze and asked, “Are you sure you won’t touch her?”
Felix felt a little ironic. With such a stunning beauty like Amelia in his hands, how could he possibly do nothing?
He wanted to make her submit, make her scream his name–show her who the real man was.
And an hour was more than enough time for anything.
“Don’t you trust me? I promise you!”
Nolan immediately stepped aside, warning him, “Felix, if you lie to me, I won’t let it slide.”
The two of them got along well and called each other by name. Nolan rarely addressed him as “uncle.”
To him, Felix was just his sidekick, someone who wouldn’t dare cross him.
Felix strode straight to Amelia and said to the two bodyguards holding her, “Bring her upstairs!”
Amelia’s gaze fell on Nolan. He felt a sudden pang of guilt.
After all, Amelia was still his fiancée in/name–and now she was being taken away by another man right under his nose.
He pressed his lips together and forced himself to look at her again.
If she really didn’t want this, now would be the time to ask him for help. As long as she asked, he would definitely….
But when he looked over again/Amelia had already turned her gaze away coldly.
That attitude nearly made him lose his composure. It shouldn’t be like this.

Just then, Milly slipped her art through lils, resting her head against his shoulder,
Nolan, don’t worry. Felix will definitely treat Arnelia well,” she said sweetly. Her voice was soft, her. sparkling with amusement.
But Nolan felt hollow, a growing sense of dread curling in his chest, as if he was about to lose something precious and he couldn’t stop it.
He couldn’t even hear what Milly was saying anymore. His eyes were uncontrollably drawn to Amelia as she was escorted upstairs.
He had just taken a step forward when Jessica’s cold voice rang out.
“Nolan, you have to trust Felix’s character. Besides, did you see what Amelia did today? She humiliated me in front of everyone. If she acts like this in front of the entire Hale family, you’ll become a laughingstock. Do you really want to be overshadowed by Dylan again?”
Nolan felt as if he had been struck by lightning. Dylan held the most authority in the Hale family.
But thankfully, Dylan had suffered a blow–his legs were crippled, and the rest of the family could finally breathe again.
Growing up, everyone had lived in Dylan’s shadow.
They were all about the same age, so why was Dylan always so outstanding? Why did everyone have to feel inferior in his presence?
Jessica was right. If Amelia kept acting out like this, she’d only bring shame upon him once they were married.
He couldn’t let Dylan see him being made a fool of. Maybe this was necessary–to humble Amelia first.
He looked up, only to realize Amelia was already out of sight.
Milly, still clung to his arm, was even more delighted. Felix was trash. He’d gotten girls pregnant back in school. Alone in a room with Amelia, there was no way he’d behave himself.
Amelia was about to be ruined! Serves her right! Milly thought gleefully.
She was so excited she was trembling. If Jessica and Nolan weren’t here, she would’ve run to the door just to listen in–to make sure Amelia was completely disgraced. Only then would she spread the word and destroy her for good.
Meanwhile, Amelia was taken upstairs. She didn’t call for help–no one here would help her anyway.
As soon as the bodyguards shoved her inside, Felix closed the door behind them. His expression twisted with excitement.
“Amelia, you never saw this coming, did you? Nolan’s just going to stand by and watch another man take you. Serves you right–I told you not to act so high and mighty.”
He couldn’t wait any longer and lunged at Amelia, his face full of excitement.
Amelia dodged to the side, Felix missed, and thought she was just playing hard to get.
“Stop struggling. Haven’t you always listened to Jessica? Isn’t it good enough to be her sister–in–law? Hurry
