Love In New Memories
Chapter 78 Unwelcome Proposal
Jessica walked over and gently took Amelia’s hand, putting on the familiar facade of a kind elder.
“Amelia, let’s cat first. We can talk things through at the table.”
Amelia was determined to get an answer today, so she didn’t refuse,

She walked over and sat down. A man quickly took the seat beside her. The moment she caught his scent, she felt nauseous–it was Felix.
Nolan saw Felix sit next to Amelia and felt a pang of discomfort. He wanted to sit next to her, but Milly tugged his sleeve.
“Nolan, sit here.”
And so, Nolan ended up sitting directly across from Amelia.
Mrs. Sally had already laid out all the dishes. Just as Amelia was about to raise the engagement issue, she noticed an extra serving of food on her plate.
She turned to look at Felix. Felix was grinning smugly.
“Amelia, eat up. The chef at Jessica’s place is five–star, you know. The food is amazing.”
Amelia set her plate down and turned to Mrs. Sally. “Could I have another empty plate, please?”
At that, Felix–so used to being treated like royalty at Jessica’s house, slammed a hand on the table.
“What’s that supposed to mean? Don’t you know how to appreciate kindness?”
Before his words had even faded, Jessica spoke up, “Felix, sit down. Amelia, don’t get worked up. I already have a solution for the engagement. Didn’t you want to break off your engagement with Nolan?
“Fine, I agree. And as it happens, Felix just told me he likes you. So you’ll still be part of our family. Once you marry Felix, you’ll be my sister–in–law. Isn’t that perfect? Felix’s quite a catch. Sure, he’s a little wild now, but with you keeping him in line, I’m sure he’ll stay out of trouble.”
As soon as she finished, Milly burst out laughing and raised her glass.
“Wow, congratulations, Amelia! You and Jessica will be even closer now. When you have a baby, I’ll make sure to bring you a huge gift!”
Her eyes sparkled with amusement. She never expected that Felix, the notorious troublemaker, would set his sights on Amelia.
Everyone knew Felix had dropped out of school in junior high and loved to gamble. If it weren’t for his sister Jessica covering for him, he’d probably be in jail by now.
The only reason he could associate with someone like Nolan was because of Jessica. Without her, a person from his background wouldn’t even get a foot in the door of this circle.
Milly was overjoyed. In her mind, Amelia deserved someone like Felix.
Everyone at the table seemed pleased–except for Amelia.

Chapter 78 Unwelcome Proposal
Without warning, Amelia picked up a glass of wine and splashed it right in Jessica’s face.
No one saw that coming.
Jessica herself was stunned. When the cold liquid hit her face, it took her several seconds to react.
Amelia let out a cold laugh. “Jessica, are you out of your mind? Do you even hear yourself? Your brother isn’t even worthy to carry my shoes, let alone marry me. You think this is a favor? Keep dreaming. I’m done here! And for the record, I don’t need your permission to break off the engagement with Nolan. Don’t flatter yourself.”
She turned to leave, but Jessica slammed her palm on the table, her voice ice–cold.
“Amelia Summers!”
Jessica hadn’t been this humiliated since her days as a mistress–back when she had to grovel and beg for scraps of attention.
But now, after years of climbing to the top, being humiliated like this was a direct blow to her pride–and it cracked her composure wide open.
“Stop her!”
Several bodyguards sprang into action.
Jessica’s voice dripped with disdain. “Amelia, you should be grateful we’re offering to marry you into our family. You’re never truly accepted by the Summers family. You think you’re some treasured daughter? Without shares, you’re nothing! Today, you’ll sit down and have a good talk with Felix. He’s more than good enough for you.”
Two bodyguards blocked Amelia’s path, standing overbearingly in front of her.
She frowned and turned to Jessica. “You’re seriously trying to force me?”
Jessica dropped all pretense. Drenched in wine, humiliated, and enraged, she no longer even bothered to
act.
She ignored Amelia and spoke directly to Felix, “Felix, I’ll have them take Amelia to your usual room. Have a good talk with her. Sometimes, women just need a firm hand.”
Felix was delighted by Jessica’s support. A smile spread across his face.
“Don’t worry, Jessica. I’ll make sure we have a good talk!”
He strode confidently toward Amelia, his eyes gleaming with intent.
Amelia never expected Jessica to resort to such tactics. Her fingers fumbled in her bag, and through à gap, she saw that her phone had already dialed out. She breathed a sigh of relief.
How ironic–at a time like this, her parents were useless, and the only person she could think of was Dylan.
Felix was just a few steps away when suddenly, someone stepped in front of him.
